Missing features on new Hyundai Venue offered by rivals

Hyundai has updated the Venue with a lot of modern-day features, but its second-generation avatar still lacks some amenities that rivals offer. Their inclusion would have made the Hyundai offering appear more compelling, at least on paper. Here’s a list of those features.

Panoramic sunroof

A sunroof is one of the key features that an Indian buyer looks for while deciding on a car. The second-generation Venue continues with a single-pane sunroof, offered from its mid-spec HX5 trim. While a single-pane unit keeps the Venue at par with its competitors, a panoramic sunroof, as offered by rivals such as the Kia Syros, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO, could have made it an even better proposition on paper.

Powered co-driver’s seat

The 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat has been carried forward in the newly launched second-generation Venue. However, one of its prime rivals, the Skoda Kylaq, also offers a 6-way powered co-driver’s seat, which is a welcome convenience feature. The Venue only gets a manual adjustment for the co-driver’s seat.

Dual-zone auto AC

While the Hyundai Venue gets automatic climate control with rear vents, the Mahindra XUV 3XO goes a step further and offers dual-zone AC. This feature enables separate temperature and fan speed settings for the driver and co-driver, enhancing comfort. Given that the Venue is a feature-rich offering, dual-zone AC could have been a nice addition.

Head-up display (HUD)

The new-generation Venue features dual 12.3-inch displays, and aside from that, the only display is for the AC controls. In comparison, rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor also offer a coloured head-up display (HUD) to show important information such as vehicle speed, gear-position indicator and time. All of these things help reduce distractions while driving. If Hyundai had offered this feature with the Venue, it would have been the manufacturer’s only car in its current line-up to be equipped with it.

Telescopic adjustment for steering wheel

Another essential feature absent in the Venue is a telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel. While the next-gen Venue has a new, more modern-looking steering wheel, it just gets tilt functionality. Competitors such as the Brezza, Kylaq, Fronx and Taisor offer both tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, allowing a lot more flexibility for that perfect driving position.

The Venue also misses out on the rear seat ventilation and recline functions that are offered with the Kia Syros. However, we have not considered these features as they are unique to the Kia model, which is positioned as a premium option to other sub-4m SUVs like the Venue.
