About four-and-a-half years after introducing the XUV700, Mahindra is now preparing to launch its successor, the XUV 7XO. Just to recap, the XUV 7XO is essentially the XUV700 facelift. While pre-bookings for this midsize SUV began on December 15, 2025, its official reveal is slated for January 5, 2026. Without further ado, here is all that we know about the new Mahindra XUV 7XO.
1. What will the exterior of the Mahindra XUV 7XO be like?
The XUV 7XO gets several stylistic updates without losing the XUV700’s familiar shape.
The most apparent change on the outside of the XUV 7XO over the XUV700 will be noticeable up front. Starting with the main grille, it has been redesigned and boasts stylised vertical elements flanking the ‘Twin Peaks’ logo. At the corners are new headlight clusters that will feature a twin-pod setup with sleeker LED DRL elements, while lower down on the front fascia will be a sculpted front bumper and a revised air dam.
The XUV 7XO will get a new design for its wheels, which are likely to be 18-inch alloys on the top trims. Part of the exterior update will be new LED tail-lights and a revised tailgate, along with a redesigned rear bumper. Mahindra is also expected to offer new exterior colours with the XUV 7XO.
2. What will the interior of the Mahindra XUV 7XO be like?
The XUV 7XO’s interior would be more premium in its look and feel.
One forte of the XUV 7XO will be its interior design, consisting of soft-touch materials and a triple-screen layout. The latter is likely to comprise the 12.3-inch displays as seen in the XEV 9e and XEV 9S, where they are both responsive and high-definition. The front passenger seat will get an electronically operated ‘boss’ mode to liberate more rear legroom – useful for those who are chauffeur-driven often.
The XUV 7XO will get the brand’s new two-spoke steering wheel with the ‘Twin Peaks’ logo in the middle and a piano-black finish. These, along with the tan and black interior theme and a minimalistic dashboard, will help elevate the cabin’s premium appeal. Features of the new XUV 7XO will include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, surround-view cameras and Level 2 ADAS.
3. What engine options will the Mahindra XUV 7XO get?
Existing petrol and diesel engine options will be retained.
The Mahindra XUV 7XO will soldier on with the same turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engines that currently power the XUV700. In the XUV700, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol mill produces 200hp and 380Nm, while the 2.2-litre four-cylinder oil-burner is capable of up to 185hp and 450Nm. As with the XUV700, the automaker will likely continue offering the XUV 7XO diesel with all-wheel drive as well. Just like in the XUV700, transmission options with the XUV 7XO will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic.
4. What is the expected price of the Mahindra XUV 7XO?
The new Mahindra XUV 7XO could be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). For comparison, the base variant of the XUV700 costs Rs 14.60 lakh, while the top-spec XUV700 costs Rs 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom).
5. Which cars rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO?
Upon its launch, the Mahindra XUV 7XO’s primary rivals will include the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector and Tata Safari.
