Which Kia Carens Clavis variant should you buy?

The Kia Carens Clavis is the facelifted version of the regular Carens MPV but with a more premium slant. The Carens Clavis features comprehensive exterior styling updates over the regular Carens MPV; these include revised LED rear light bar and headlights, redesigned front and rear bumpers and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it has subtler updates on the design front but lots of feature additions. Let’s take a look at the Carens Clavis range.

Prices for the Carens Clavis start at Rs 11.21 lakh and top off at Rs 21.57 lakh. Following the 2026 update for the Carens Clavis, the MPV is available in 12 trim levels: HTE, HTE(O), HTE(EX), HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX, HTX+, HTX(O), GTX, HTX(O) A, GTX+, and X-Line. A 7-seat layout is standard fit for the Carens Clavis, but some variants also offer a 6-seat configuration with second-row captain seats at identical pricing.

In terms of engine options, the Carens Clavis offers a 115hp 1.5-litre petrol with a 6-speed manual, a 116hp 1.5-litre turbo-diesel with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed iMT, and a 7-speed DCT.

Which Kia Carens Clavis variant should you buy?

Kia offers the Carens Clavis in eight monotone colour options, namely Aurora Black Pearl, Clear White, Dark Gun Metal, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Imperial Blue, Ivory Silver, and Pewter Olive. Barring Dark Gun Metal, which is exclusive to the Carens Clavis X-Line, these colours are available across the MPV's entire variant line-up.

Five interior finishes

The Carens Clavis’s cabin comes in one of five colour schemes, depending on the trim level. The base HTE, HTE(O), and HTE(EX) trims get a black-and-beige interior with black-and-blue semi-leatherette seats, while the HTK+ and HTK+(O) trims feature black seats instead.

In the higher-spec HTX, HTX(O), and HTX+ trims, the Carens Clavis comes with a blue-and-beige finish for the interior and leatherette seats. Lastly, the GT-Line and X-Line trims of the Carens Clavis get black interiors with white accents and green accents, respectively.

Which Kia Carens Clavis variant should you consider buying?

HTX+ turbo-petrol MT offers the best value.

Judging by the features on offer, the Carens Clavis HTX+ 1.5 turbo-petrol MT trim offers virtually every creature comfort expected of a premium MPV at a relatively reasonable Rs 18.82 lakh price tag. It’s also available with the DCT gearbox option, which enables greater convenience and ease of driving, albeit for a premium of just over Rs 2 lakh.

For buyers on a strict budget, the HTE(EX) is the trim to go for. It features most of the basic safety essentials, comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes a sunroof. Moreover, the Carens Clavis HTE(EX) is available in all three engine options.
