The Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter have been the most popular scooters in India. For the longest time, the Activa dominated the segment, but the TVS Jupiter now gets new practical features like a 33-litre boot, iGo torque assist and a slightly larger 113.3cc engine. The updated Activa, on the other hand, now gets a TFT screen and a keyless ignition system. We compare the acceleration, roll-on acceleration and braking of both scooters.
Honda Activa vs TVS Jupiter: Acceleration
The performance of both scooters is almost on par in this segment.
During our tests, the road conditions were dry, and both scooters launched stably from a standstill. The Activa and the Jupiter both take around 3.5 seconds in the run to 40kph. The Jupiter is slightly quicker up to 60kph, but in the top-end, the Activa achieved the run 0.39 seconds quicker. In the real world, this minor difference will hardly be noticeable. That being said, the Jupiter’s engine feels smoother and less stressed at higher speeds.
Honda Activa vs TVS Jupiter: Roll-on Acceleration
With the iGo assist feature on the Jupiter, it feels slightly peppier while making overtakes.
The iGo assist feature on the Jupiter gives it a torque boost of 0.6Nm, and it was slightly quicker in both our roll-on acceleration tests. In the 20-50kph and the 30-70kph runs, the Activa is around 0.5 seconds slower.

The Jupiter gets a variant with a disc brake, but the Activa is still only offered with a drum brake setup.
Despite having a drum brake at the front, the stopping performance of the Activa is impressive. It comes to a halt in a stable manner, and the grip from the tyres avoids unnecessary sliding. The Jupiter has a sharper initial bite thanks to a disc brake at the front, but the rear locks up easily. Our tests revealed that both scooters took around 18.5 metres to come to a complete stop.

The Jupiter is slightly more affordable than the Activa.
The top variant of the Activa is priced at Rs 87,944 and gets a TFT screen but misses out on a front disc brake. Additionally, the Activa still uses a 10-inch rear wheel compared to the 12-inch rear wheel on the Jupiter.
