Electric cars in India have come a long way. Once considered expensive and short on range, today’s EVs now boast futuristic designs, an extensive list of features, and go further distances on a single charge, all at competitive prices. Here we have listed all the EVs on sale in India under Rs 15 lakh, including the one that holds the title of India’s most affordable electric car.

Note: All range figures mentioned below are certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Real-world range may differ.

8. MG Windsor EV

Price: Rs 13.99 lakh-18.49 lakh.

BaaS price: Rs 9.99 lakh-13.39 lakh + Rs 3.9-4.5 per km.

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

This list starts with the extremely popular MG Windsor EV, which is also the brand's current bestselling model and the highest-selling EV in 2025. While it's the most expensive here, it can also be had via MG's battery as a service (BaaS) scheme, wherein the buyer pays for the vehicle upfront but is separately charged for the battery on a rental basis. Battery options include a standard 38kWh and Pro 52.9kWh packs, with the motor producing 136hp in both versions. The relatively bigger battery packs give the Windsor EV ranges of 332km (standard) and 449km (Pro). Our review of the Windsor EV  praised it for its roomy and practical cabin and relaxed driving manners.

7. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Price: Rs 13.89 lakh to Rs 14.96 lakh (charger excluded).

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

The XUV 3XO EV is the only Mahindra electric vehicle based on an ICE-powered vehicle, the XUV 3XO. It is powered by a single 39.4kWh battery pack, wherein the front-mounted motor produces 110hp in the AX5 trim and 150hp in the AX7L trim. It gets an ARAI-claimed range of 350km, while Mahindra claims a real-world range of around 270-300km.

6. Citroen eC3

Price: Rs 12.90 lakh-13.53 lakh.

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

Next up is the Citroen eC3 hatchback, the French carmaker's only electric vehicle in India. Citroen equips the electric C3 with a 57hp motor paired to a 29.2kWh battery, with a claimed range of 246km. While its ICE-powered counterpart, the C3, received the X treatment with much-needed features, the eC3, however, has not been updated by Citroen, and it lacks most features that rivals get. In our experience, we found the EV to be unexciting.

5. Tata Nexon EV

Price: Rs 12.49 lakh-17.29 lakh.

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

The Tata Nexon EV is one of the four electric vehicles to feature here from the homegrown brand. It is available in MR (Medium Range) (129hp, 30kWh) and 45 (144hp, 45kWh) variants. On a full charge, the Nexon EV Medium Range goes up to 275km, while the 45 version returns 489km, the highest in this set. The Nexon EV, in our opinion, is an all-rounder in the compact segment, with good real-world range, a feature-packed interior and strong performance.

4. Tata Tigor EV

Price: Rs 12.49 lakh-13.75 lakh.

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

The Tata Tigor EV is the only sedan in this list. Compared to the second-ranked Tiago's two battery options, the electric sedan is offered with a single 75hp, 26kWh setup. While the power output is identical to the Tiago EV LR, the Tigor EV's slightly bigger 26kWh battery gives it a higher 315km range. While it does have a decent range, it lacks the wow factor that buyers look for in an EV and misses out on features in our experience.

3. Tata Punch EV

Price: Rs 9.69 lakh-12.59 lakh.

BaaS price: Rs 6.49 lakh + Rs 2.6 per km onwards

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

When it comes to the most affordable electric SUV in India, the Tata Punch EV is the cheapest option. The facelifted version of the EV is priced more aggressively this time, especially at the top end and offers a BaaS scheme. It gets newer 30kWh (88hp) and 40kWh (129hp) battery packs with claimed ranges of 375km and 468km, respectively. A baby Nexon EV in its own right, our review of the Punch EV complemented it for its strong performance, impeccable ride and handling, and well-equipped interior.

2. Tata Tiago EV

Price: Rs 7.99 lakh-11.14 lakh.

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

Next among this group is the Tata Tiago EV. The electric Tata hatchback is available in two guises – Medium Range (61hp, 19.2kWh) and Long Range (75hp, 24kWh), returning 223km and 293km of range, respectively. It is also the most affordable four-door all-electric hatchback. Its compact dimensions, well-appointed interior, and packing in features like a large 10.25-inch touchscreen enable it to be a well-rounded package at an affordable price.

1. MG Comet EV

Price: Rs 7.5 lakh-10 lakh.

BaaS price: Rs 4.99 lakh-7.63 lakh + Rs 3.1 per km.

Every electric car under Rs 15 lakh

Not only is the MG Comet EV the most affordable electric car in India, but it’s also the smallest dimension-wise, with just two doors. With the BaaS scheme, it becomes even more accessible. The Comet is powered by a 42hp motor, which is mounted on the rear axle that is paired to a 17.3kWh battery pack. The range of the Comet EV is rated at 230km. In our time behind the wheel, it displayed impressive efficiency and has a well-built interior, along with sufficient space despite its compact dimensions. It is also a unique and quirky-looking car with no other model like it.
