Every CNG-powered car sold in India

In FY26, CNG was the second most popular fuel choice among Indian car buyers. Though CNG options are priced higher than their respective petrol-only versions, lower running costs and higher fuel efficiency make them an attractive choice for hypermiling customers. Carmakers now offer CNG options even on well-equipped mid-level and high-end trims, which is adding to the popularity of CNG variants. In this article, we list all CNG cars on sale in India, from the lowest-priced to the highest.

1. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Price: Rs 4.62 lakh to Rs 5.12 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The most affordable car in India, the Maruti Suzuki S Presso, is also the one to offer the lowest-priced CNG option. It’s available in the LXi (O) and VXi (O) trims and only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.0-litre engine develops 57hp and 82Nm in CNG mode, and the claimed mileage is 32.73km/kg. The S-Presso has an airy cabin feel, but its light build is a weakness.

2. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

Price: Rs 4.82 lakh to Rs 5.32 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Alto K10 is powered by the same petrol-CNG engine along with a 5-speed manual gearbox that also does duty in the S-Presso. It is the second most affordable Maruti CNG car. Available in LXi (O) and VXi (O) trims, it’s slightly pricier than the S-Presso as it comes equipped with six airbags as standard. The engine has enough pep in town, but higher variants are pricey, and the ride feels unsettled at higher speeds.

3. Tata Tiago

Price: Rs 5.79 lakh to Rs 8.55 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Tata Tiago is the most affordable CNG-automatic car. It offers CNG options across multiple trims, and a 5-speed MT is also available. AMT versions in higher trims also get paddle shifters. The Tiago’s engine produces 75.5hp and 96.5Nm of torque in CNG mode, but it lacks grunt, and top variants are expensive. On the plus side, its dual-cylinder setup doesn’t eat much into boot space.

4. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

Price: Rs 5.89 lakh to Rs 6.42 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Wagon R’s 1.0-litre petrol engine can be paired with a CNG kit in LXi and VXi trims. Here, it develops 56.6hp and 82.1Nm of torque and comes mated only to a 5-speed manual transmission. The hatchback is easy to drive, and its tall-boy design lends it a roomy cabin. However, it is let down by its light build and is not well-suited to highway driving. Despite being larger than the Alto K10, it has a slightly higher claimed mileage of 33.47km/kg.

5. Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Price: Rs 5.98 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Celerio shares its CNG powertrain with the Wagon R but is priced higher, as the CNG option is offered only in the mid-level VXi trim. While the Celerio is easy to drive like the Wagon R, its rear seat is not very spacious, and the cabin leaves a lot to be desired. However, its claimed mileage of 34.43km/kg makes it the most efficient of any Maruti CNG car yet.

6. Maruti Suzuki Eeco

Price: Rs 6.36 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Eeco is the most affordable CNG MPV. Its 1.2-litre engine, producing 52.7hp and 95Nm, is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels, making it the only RWD car here. However, the CNG option is offered solely in the 5-seater guise, while a 6-seater layout is available with petrol-only variants. The Eeco has good luggage space and low running costs, but it feels rudimentary overall.

7. Tata Punch

Price: 6.75 lakh to Rs 10.6 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Tata Punch is the most affordable CNG SUV and the only CNG-automatic SUV you can buy. Like the Tiago, it is offered across various trims, with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The Punch is not only well-equipped in terms of features but also has great ride and handling. However, its engine is lacklustre and, like the Tiago, its top trims are pricey.

8. Hyundai Aura

Price: Rs 6.90 lakh to Rs 8.59 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Hyundai Aura pairs a CNG kit with its 1.2-litre petrol engine, producing 69hp and 95.2Nm of torque. Its starting price of Rs 6.90 lakh makes it the most affordable CNG-powered compact sedan, and it also gets a dual-cylinder setup. While good cabin quality, fit-finish and light controls work in its favour, rear-seat space, on the other hand, is not enough.

The Hyundai Exter offers CNG in four trims, utilising a 1.2-litre petrol-CNG engine generating 69hp and 95.2Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Like the Aura, it gets a dual-cylinder setup, and the claimed fuel efficiency is 27.10km/kg. The Exter wows with its user-friendly and well-equipped cabin, but space for three in the back is tight, and it feels bouncy at higher speeds.

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

Priced from Rs 7.21 lakh, the Tigor CNG has a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 75.5hp in CNG mode and is offered with 5-speed manual and AMT options. Its 70-litre CNG tank is the largest here. While comfort levels on board are great, the Tigor skips on some features that rivals offer.

Price: Rs 7.27 to Rs 7.77 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios gets the same petrol-CNG powertrain as the Aura and Exter, with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It also features a dual CNG tank setup like the other two. Available in the mid-spec Magna and Sportz trims, the CNG Grand i10 Nios is priced from Rs 7.27 lakh. This Hyundai hatchback packs a well-built, feature-rich interior but is let down by an unexciting driving experience.

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The Altroz is the most affordable premium hatchback with a CNG powertrain and the only one in its segment to offer an AMT gearbox with it. The Altroz gets a dual-cylinder setup and impresses with its ride comfort, feature set and interior ambience. However, overall NVH levels require improvement.

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

Starting from Rs 7.45 lakh, the Swift CNG is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that develops 70hp and 102Nm of torque. Offered in LXi, VXi and ZXi trims, it comes only with a manual gearbox. Sporty handling, impressive efficiency and light controls are the Swift’s strengths, but it is priced too close to its more premium sibling, the Baleno.

Maruti’s premium hatchback, the Baleno, pairs a CNG kit with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 78hp and 98.5Nm of torque. It’s offered on the Sigma and Delta trims but only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Cabin space and ride quality are impressive, but the high-speed ride is bouncy.

The Nexon is the only model here to pair a CNG kit to a turbo-petrol engine. With 100hp and 170Nm of torque in CNG mode, it is the most powerful vehicle on this list. As with the rest of Tata’s CNG offerings, it features dual CNG tanks and is offered across multiple trims. However, unlike its stablemates, it comes only with a 6-speed manual gearbox and does not offer an AMT.

The Ertiga’s starting price of Rs 10.76 lakh for its CNG version makes it the most affordable 7-seater on this list. It uses the Brezza’s 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 88hp and 121Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed MT. The claimed mileage is 26.11km/kg. The Ertiga offers CNG with the mid-level VXI and top-end ZXI trims. While space and cabin practicality are great in this MPV, which comes across as a good value proposition, it skips on some features.

23. Maruti Suzuki Victoris

Price: Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 14.72 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

With a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh, the Victoris is the most affordable CNG midsize SUV. Its CNG kit is paired with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which also powers the Brezza, Grand Vitara and other Maruti and badge-engineered Toyota models. Notably, it is the only model here with the CNG tank fitted to the underbody, so the boot space is not sacrificed. While the Victoris impresses with its efficiency and value-for-money proposition, it misses out on a spare wheel, and the back seat isn’t spacious enough.

24. Maruti Suzuki XL6

Price: Rs 12.43 lakh

Every CNG-powered car sold in India

The XL6 is essentially a more premium, rugged-looking, six-seat version of the Ertiga. The MPV is retailed through Maruti’s Nexa dealerships and gets a CNG option in the mid-level Zeta trim, priced at Rs 12.43 lakh. It gets the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine as the Ertiga, which churns out 88hp and 121.5Nm in CNG mode. It fares well in terms of second- and third-row space, but the CNG tank makes the boot unusable.

Maruti offers CNG options with the Grand Vitara’s Delta and Zeta trims, with the same 1.5-litre petrol-CNG powertrain as the Victoris CNG. While sorted ride and handling behaviour are among the Grand Vitara’s strengths, some interior bits feel cheap, and cabin width and headroom at the rear are tight.
