The Nissan Gravite will debut tomorrow, marking the brand’s entry into the compact MPV segment in India. The Gravite is one of three new models Nissan plans to introduce here by 2027. Based on the same CMF-A+ platform as the Renault Triber, the Gravite will rival it directly while offering Nissan-specific styling and branding.
1. What will the exterior design of the Nissan Gravite be like?
The Nissan Gravite shares its basic silhouette with the Triber but gets a distinct design to set it apart. At the front, it features Nissan’s signature V-Motion grille, redesigned headlamps with twin-strip LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and ‘GRAVITE’ lettering on the bonnet. The bumper design includes silver accents and a faux skid plate for a slightly more rugged look.
On the side, the MPV gets roof rails, and there’s a new design for the alloy wheels, likely reserved for higher trims. At the rear, the Gravite features revised tail-lamps, silver detailing and prominent badging, giving it a different appearance compared to its Renault sibling.
2. What features will the Nissan Gravite get?
Inside, the Gravite is expected to follow a practical and familiar layout, largely in line with the Triber. It will be offered in a 7-seat (5+2) configuration, and the third row is expected to be removable to free up luggage space when required.
Higher variants are likely to get a dual-screen setup with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Features expected on top trims include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, wireless charging, cruise control, a cooled glove box, automatic LED headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. Practical touches such as rear AC vents, multiple charging points, cup holders and storage spaces across all three rows are also likely.
On the safety front, the Gravite is expected to get six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, tyre-pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera. Higher variants may also add front parking sensors.
3. What powertrain options will be offered with the Nissan Gravite?
The Nissan Gravite will be powered by the same 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that does duty in the Renault Triber. This three-cylinder unit produces 72hp and 96Nm and will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. A dealer-fit CNG option is also expected, aimed at buyers looking for lower running costs.
4. What will be the rivals of the Nissan Gravite
The Nissan Gravite will primarily rival the Renault Triber in the compact MPV segment. With very few direct competitors offering three-row seating in a sub-4-metre footprint, the Gravite will target buyers looking for an affordable, practical family car with occasional 7-seat capability. Pricing is expected to range from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
