Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Quick review

9 Apr '23

Has genuine SUV-like presence

Front-end is more Grand Vitara than Baleno
Raised bonnet, big grille, body cladding give SUV credentials

9 Apr '23

No body panel shared with Baleno

All sheet metal is completely new
Styling is big part of Fronx’s appeal
However, 16-inch alloys look a tad small

9 Apr '23

Interior similar to Baleno

Only differentiated by colours and textures
Switchgears feel good to operate
Infotainment system is responsive and has high resolution

9 Apr '23

Spacious and comfortable

Front seats are soft and supportive
Rear space is excellent, but centre armrest is missed
Cooled seats, digital dials, sunroof are also missed

9 Apr '23

New Boosterjet engine

100hp, 3-cyl unit is refined and responsive
Turbo-lag is minimal, part throttle response is good
However, it lacks the oomph you’d expect from a turbo

9 Apr '23

Engine calibrated for efficiency

Outright performance falls a bit short
5MT gearbox is light and precise
6AT offers a smoother drive
Paddle shifters add to fun factor

9 Apr '23

More stiffly sprung than Baleno

Still, not uncomfortable; adds a sporty edge to handling
Body roll is minimal, high-speed dynamics are good
Steering is light, but feels inert
