Beat the heat

How to keep your car cool at 50 degrees

Here are some tips to keep you and your car cool during this Heat Wave.

Keep your car hydrated.

Make sure you radiator is topped up with coolant and that engine, brake and transmission oils are at optimum levels.

Don't lower pressure

Blowouts occur because under-inflated tyres flex more, building up heat. So, set pressure to the recommended values when tyres are cool.

Seek out shade

Find a covered parking spot or one that offers some sort of shade. Consider leaving windows open an inch.

Pre-cool your cabin

Several cars today get remote AC or rapid cooling systems. Make good use of these features.

Let air out

Have the windows down while the AC is running initially, to allow hot air to escape. And then switch to recirculation mode.

Sun-block

Use the sunshade in your car and when parking remember to close the sunroof screen.

Stay calm

Getting agitated in traffic will only increase your body temperature. Keep calm and carry on.
