Road tripping in an EV?

8 tips to optimize range and charging

1. Plan your route

Plan your exact route with your stops around charging stations

2. Download charging apps

Charging apps like PlugShare show exact location of chargers

3. Have a Plan B charger

Not all public chargers are active, so have a back-up charging station in mind

4. Know how long your EV takes to charge

EV charging takes much longer to top-up than ICE cars and that will impact your total trip duration

5. Don’t charge fully

If your destination is close by, charge as much as required to save on time

6. Have credit or digi wallet set up

All public chargers work via apps and they generally require a topped-up digi wallet

7. Carry an extension cord

Not necessary but could be useful if your only choice is charging from 15A wall socket

8. Take it easy

Don’t set a tight deadline on your destination and don’t hurry your EV on the highway
