I was surprised to find that neither showroom seemed particularly interested in promoting the AWD variants. The focus was largely on CNG and hybrid models, while even automatic variants did not seem very common. When it came to AWD versions, none of the dealerships in the NCR were willing to offer a test drive. In some cases, the sales staff did not even understand the AWD variant during the initial conversation and appeared to be poorly informed about its features. Nexa is positioned as a premium retail channel, but my experience did not feel significantly different from Arena. The overall sales and showroom experience felt quite similar. It almost seems as though Maruti Suzuki&apos;s sales channels are not making a strong effort to promote higher-ticket vehicles. Given this, should Nexa consider offering only vehicles priced above Rs.15 lakh in order to better justify its premium positioning?</news:title></news:news></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/renault-kiger-evolution-turbo-variant-launched-at-rs-789-lakh-440039</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-24T12:50:18+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Renault Kiger Evolution+ Turbo variant launched at Rs 7.89 lakh</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260624_104356_06f70189.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/tata-sierra-ev-revealed-440038</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-24T11:55:51+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Tata Sierra EV revealed </news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260624_073411_46b8ff4a.jpeg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/are-top-end-variants-worth-stretching-budget-beyond-27-lakh-for-family-suv-450509</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-24T11:55:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>I am looking for a 7-seater family car in the budget of Rs. 25-27 lakh. I am already aware of the popular options in this segment including XUV 7XO, Safari, Scorpio-N, Kia Carens Clavis, etc. The challenge is that I keep getting tempted towards the top-end variants. Features like ADAS, panoramic sunroof, 360° camera, premium audio, ventilated seats, and all the latest tech make me question if I am getting everything after spending this much amount.

At the same time, I am also struggling to differentiate what I genuinely need and what are nice-to-have features. I am in my late 20s and am a car enthusiast. I love driving and road trips. The car that I am looking for will be primarily used for family travel, city driving, and highway runs. My plan is to keep the car for around 5-7 years. I would like to know a few things from those who have owned or upgraded cars in this segment. Which features are genuinely useful in day-to-day ownership and which features feel exciting initially but, were rarely used later? Also, is it worth stretching my budget for top-end variants, or is the sweet spot usually the mid/high variant? If you were in my place and had the same budget today, which 7-seater would you buy and why? I am trying to make a rational decision rather than buying a car for features that I will rarely use.</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Tata/safari/GT_03679.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/mg-to-debut-plug-in-hybrid-suv-on-july-16-440037</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-24T11:37:07+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>MG to debut new plug-in hybrid SUV on July 16</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260624_062106_23d01564.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/industry/bajaj-auto-hit-by-ransomware-attack-operations-unaffected-440036</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-24T11:22:39+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Bajaj Auto hit by ransomware attack, operations unaffected</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260624_055155_c1341239.jpeg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/what-is-the-right-way-to-transition-from-a-manual-gearbox-to-a-cvt-automatic-car-450522</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-24T10:30:29+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>What is the right way to start driving a CVT automatic car after driving a manual gearbox?</news:title></news:news></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/should-you-buy-the-current-hyundai-i20-asta-or-wait-for-the-facelift-bayon-and-other-feature-rich-automatic-alternatives-under-rs-14-lakh-450572</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-24T10:00:22+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>I&apos;m a first-time car buyer looking for an automatic petrol car mainly for city use and occasional long trips. I love the car, but I am looking to upgrade as Ford has left India, and I may have issues selling it after a couple of years.
Q1. Should I go ahead and sell the car, or can I keep it for a couple of years?
Q2. The car has been driven around 65k, and I have been offered 2.75 lakhs. I think it&apos;s a good value, thoughts?
Right now, my running in the city is approx 500-600 kms per month. I mostly use a car for my office commute, and I don’t have a bike as of now. And yearly, out of the city running of around 2000 kms per year. Please, my city running may increase in future if I change my house location or office. I am very much confused about EV and petrol cars.
In EVs, I was considering the Nexon EV. In petrol I was considering, Honda Elevate, VW Taigun 2025 (1.0 and 1.5), as I am getting some deals on them, Skoda Kylaq ( budget option with the same engine). As I am coming in a Ford Figo, I am looking for something which feels great to drive. Please suggest the correct car option.
Reiterating question-

Q2. Ford Figo has been driven around 65k, and I have been offered 2.75 lakhs. I think it&apos;s a good value, thoughts?
Q3. Will EV be the correct option for me? ( looking at my running)
Q4. Or should I go ahead with petrol cars? (This E20/E30 discussion has created so much confusion)
Q5. If I were to choose a petrol car, which option would be great for me?

I&apos;m replacing my 2017 Maruti Baleno Alpha petrol and would appreciate your recommendations.

Location

- Currently based in Pune
- BH registration planned because there is a reasonable possibility of moving to another state in the future (likely Madhya Pradesh or Bangalore or Delhi)

Usage

- Primarily city driving (90%+)
- Occasional highway trips, sometimes very long (up to 1,000 km)
- Usually 2 adults + 1 child
- Must comfortably accommodate 4 adults + 1 child when required
- Annual running currently under 8,000 km, but could increase significantly because there will be two drivers and an automatic car is likely to be used more

Drivers

- One experienced driver comfortable with any size car
- Second driver is relatively new and gets intimidated by judging the front-left corner and vehicle dimensions
- Features such as a rear camera have helped significantly in building confidence

Budget

- Initially started looking around the Rs. 10 lakh on-road mark
- Comfortable spending around Rs.14-16 lakh if the improvement in safety, confidence and ownership experience is clearly noticeable
- Looking for the best overall fit rather than trying to maximise budget

Priorities (in order)

1. Reliability and hassle-free ownership
2. Safety
3. Easy manoeuvrability and confidence in city traffic

What I dislike about my current Baleno

- Feels flimsy and dents very easily
- Doesn&apos;t inspire confidence on highways anymore
- Braking confidence is not great

Preferences

- Automatic transmission is mandatory
- Open to petrol, hybrid or EV
- Dedicated parking is available, and home charging is possible
- Mostly good roads with occasional monsoon-related road damage
- I value predictable ownership, service quality and peace of mind more than outright performance

Test-drive observations

We have driven a few hatchbacks and compact SUVs with automatic transmissions.

One thing that became clear is that a commanding seating position and a clearer view of the road ahead significantly increase confidence, especially for the newer driver. However, we are still unsure whether this benefit alone justifies moving up from a hatchback to an SUV.

Long-term thinking

Initially, I thought a small hatchback would be ideal because I could pass it on to my parents after 3-5 years. However, if a slightly larger vehicle provides substantially better safety, comfort and confidence, I would rather keep it for 5-10 years and buy my parents a separate car later.

Question

Based on the above requirements, what would be your top 5 recommendations and in what order?

More importantly:

- Which body style would you choose: premium hatchback, compact SUV, midsize SUV, hybrid SUV or EV?
- Which popular models would you eliminate despite their popularity, and why?
- How much weight should I give to reliability versus crash safety when choosing a family car that will mostly be driven in the city but occasionally undertake long highway trips?
- Am I likely to regret staying with a hatchback, or is moving up a segment the more sensible long-term decision for my use case?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Maruti-Suzuki/Brezza/_DSC1938.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/auto-features/mahindra-xuv-3xo-vs-toyota-taisor-turbo-petrol-at-real-world-mileage-compared-440700</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-23T17:28:13+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Toyota Taisor turbo-petrol AT: Real world mileage compared</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/features/images/20260623_074349_666fa3d6.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/what-is-the-best-safe-and-reliable-petrol-automatic-under-rs-11-lakh-for-long-term-ownership-in-a-tier-2-city-450527</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-23T16:38:41+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hi Autocar, I wanted to share our situation and get genuine advice before finalising our next car. Our background: we are a middle-class family from Warangal, Telangana. We had earlier booked the Hyundai Venue HX8 DCT for 16 lakh. However, we decided to cancel the booking due to concerns about fuel uncertainty and ethanol blending. With E20 already rolling out and E30 potentially coming in the next few years, we felt risking 16 lakh on a petrol car was financially unwise for a middle-class household like ours. After reconsidering, we&apos;ve decided to bring our budget down to 10-11 lakh on-road so that even if fuel policies or technology shift in the coming years, our financial exposure and stress stay minimal. Our usage pattern: 70% city driving, 30% highway usage (occasional outstation trips). The overall usage will be moderate/occasional, not daily heavy commuting. Our key priorities: 5-star safety rating (Global NCAP/Bharat NCAP), non-negotiable, automatic transmission (petrol only), reliability and low maintenance for at least the next 10 years, reasonable service network availability in Tier-2 cities like Warangal, and comfortable for occasional highway trips, not just city crawling. Please suggest a few options and the best one to consider. Thank you.</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/hyundai/Venue/DSC_8177.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/is-the-hyundai-creta-n-line-worth-buying-450563</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-23T16:30:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Is buying a new Creta N line worth it?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/hyundai/creta/500_4041.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/citroen-aircross-comfort-edition-launched-at-rs-909-lakh-440034</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-23T15:44:45+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Citroen Aircross Comfort Edition launched at Rs 9.09 lakh</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260623_100029_07e21f63.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/should-i-buy-the-hyundai-creta-ivt-now-or-wait-for-the-facelift-450539</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-23T15:00:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hi,

Need your advice on choosing between the Kia Seltos 1.5 DCT, Renault Duster 1.3 DCT, and Skoda Kushaq 1.5 DSG.
This will be our first car. We live in Bangalore, and our usage will be roughly 400-500 km/month in bumper-to-bumper city traffic, 500 km/month on highways, plus one 1,000 km road trip every quarter.
I&apos;ve driven (test drive in city) the Seltos and Kushaq, but not the Duster yet. I loved the plush ride and comfort of the Seltos. My wife&apos;s cousin, who owns a Slavia, says it&apos;s firm in the city road (but manageable) and much more stable on highways.

Considering our usage, comfort, city drivability, highway stability, and long-term ownership, which one would we pick and why?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Skoda/kushaq/Skoda-Kushaq-front-quarter.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/sedan-or-suv-under-12-lakh-for-1000km-monthly-running-450442</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-22T21:00:07+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>I have a budget of Rs. 12 lakh and am currently driving a Tata Tiago, which I have owned for the past 10 years. In the sedan category, I am considering the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia. In the SUV segment, I am looking at the Tata Nexon. Please suggest if there are any better options than these as well. I am currently driving a Ford Figo 1.5 TDCi Diesel and have covered almost 1.5 lakh km with it. The car has been extremely reliable, and I still enjoy its excellent ride quality, handling, punchy engine, and fuel efficiency.

I am now exploring an upgrade, but so far I haven&apos;t found many options that offer the same balance of driving pleasure, comfort, and efficiency. I have test-driven most of the diesel automatic options currently available in the market, and the only one that impressed me was the Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Lately, I have also started considering strong hybrid vehicles. The Renault Duster and its upcoming sibling, the Nissan Tekton, have caught my attention, and I am willing to wait for them.

My requirements are:

- Budget: Rs. 25–28 lakh
- 5-seater preferred
- Open to both SUVs and sedans
- Good ride and handling
- Strong performance
- Excellent fuel efficiency
- Can wait 6–8 months for upcoming launches

Based on these requirements, what would you recommend? Are there any upcoming launches that I should specifically keep an eye on?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Mahindra/xuv-7xo/OP704174.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/is-toyota-innova-hycross-zx-hybrid-suitable-for-hill-trips-and-steep-inclines-450382</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-22T18:00:17+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>I am planning to purchase a Toyota Innova HyCross ZX Hybrid for long-distance travel. 1st option: Kia Carens Clavis Diesel Manual HTK+ ( 20 L approx)
2nd option: Ertiga ZXI Petrol Automatic ( 16 L approx)
3rd option: Victoris VXI Petrol Automatic ( 17 L approx)

Having confusion to choose :
Diesel: DPF issue related to my usage pattern
Considering age and comfort, Automatic should be considered. Is Maruti Suzuki is OK?
Again, choosing Ertiga or Victoris?
Clavis petrol: Based on reviews, mileage is a concern.
Petrol: E 20, E30, etc., related complications.

I have already booked the Hyundai Venue HX5 DCT, but I have come across mixed reviews regarding its fuel efficiency and high-speed stability. I own a Virtus GT as my primary car. Another option I am considering is the MG Windsor EV, although it would require an additional Rs 3 lakh. We are a family of three and are looking to upgrade to a spacious 7-seater. While my sedan is in excellent condition with no major breakdowns or accidents, I am concerned about the build quality. We plan to travel more frequently by road, so a good automatic 7-seater with a strong crash-test rating and decent fuel efficiency would help. My budget is Rs 15 lakh. I am upgrading from a 2011 Hyundai i20 Asta. I do not use the car on a day-to-day basis; it is mostly for weekend use and a family trip every quarter. Maybe after 3-4 years, I might start using it daily for around 25-30km. I like the looks of the Sierra. Please suggest whether I should go ahead with it or consider alternatives.
