I need a car that must have good space across all three rows, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, at least low double-digit fuel efficiency and it should not feel underpowered with a full load. My usage will be occassionally highway drives of 300-500 km trips, along with moderate city usage of a maximum of 400 km per month. My current car has covered 35,000 km in 2.5 years, most of which are highway runs. I am considering Kia Clavis HTK+ as it is feature-loaded and comfortable, but the Petrol Turbo AT is quite thirsty, and I have concerns about the DCT in bumper-to-bumper traffic, along with safety concerns. Another car that I am considering is Tata Safari Petrol AT but there are customer complaints regarding quality issues and the new engine. I have also shortlisted XUV7X0 as it is powerful and good to drive, but the third row feels impractical and the fuel efficiency is quite poor. Now I am considering trying the Toyota Hycross non-hybrid as well. What concerns me is the current geopolitical tensions in the Gulf, along with rising crude oil prices and possible fuel shortages. I have a budget of around ₹18 lakh and am looking for a petrol car that will be used mostly for city driving (around 80%) and occasional highway trips (around 20%), usually once or twice a month.

I currently seem inclined towards, and have almost booked, the Kia Seltos HTX Automatic with BH registration.

I have two questions:

Considering my usage and budget, is the Kia Seltos HTX Automatic the right choice, or are there any alternatives?
With the current global fuel situation, growing discussions about alternative fuels, and increasing focus on hybrid and electric vehicles, does it still make sense to buy a petrol car this year? Or would it be wiser to wait and consider a hybrid or EV instead?

Please advise.</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Kia/Seltos/_AAB0280.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/auto-images/audi-q9-interior-image-gallery-440277</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-05-12T14:15:52+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Audi Q9 interior image gallery</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/image-galleries/images/20260512_083216_e7ce9f6b.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/hyundai-creta-vs-alcazar-petrol-diesel-buying-advice-for-mixed-usage-447697</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-05-12T14:00:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hello,

I am planning to buy a new car and am confused between the Hyundai Alcazar and the Hyundai Creta. I would also like guidance on whether petrol or diesel would be the better fuel option for my usage.

My monthly driving is around 1,200-1,500 km. This includes 5-6 trips between Noida and Gurgaon every month, along with two highway trips to my hometown of around 500 km each.

My budget is approximately ₹16-17 lakh.

I am 29 years old, married, and currently working from home. My regular travel mainly includes weekly trips to town of around 50–60 km, along with occasional long drives twice a month of over 100 km. My total monthly driving averages around 500 km.

I currently own a 2013 Maruti Suzuki Dzire and am now looking to upgrade to a more suitable family car for both my family and parents. I specifically want a diesel vehicle, as I prefer diesel engines and am also slightly concerned about increasing ethanol blending in petrol.

The cars I am currently considering are:

Kia Sonet HTX Diesel Automatic
Tata Nexon Creative Plus Diesel AMT
Hyundai Alcazar Executive Diesel Manual

My budget is around ₹15 lakh, with slight flexibility if required.

The basic features I am looking for are:

Height-adjustable driver’s seat
Cruise control
Alloy wheels
Reverse parking camera
Good seating comfort

Optional but desirable features include:

Ventilated seats
Paddle shifters
Rear window sunshades
Basic sunroof

I recently bought the Maruti Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid Zeta+ variant, which comes with ventilated seats. I would appreciate your guidance on the following points:

Can leatherette seat covers with perforation be safely used on these ventilated seats without affecting their functionality?
Are there side airbags integrated into the front seats of this variant?

If using seat covers is not recommended, is there any alternative way to protect or improve the seats? My concern is mainly because the current upholstery feels slightly coarse, and the all-black synthetic material tends to get uncomfortable over time.

Looking forward to your advice.

Posting this again in case my earlier query did not reach you.

I am currently considering the Hyundai Venue HX5 Diesel and the Kia Sonet HTK Plus Diesel. I am confused between the Venue’s modern interior design and the Sonet’s higher feature count, despite its slightly dated cabin layout.

My priorities, in order, are:

Ride quality
Comfort
Convenience and features

I also noticed that you often recommend the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Is that also a strong option worth considering in this segment? My only concern with the XUV 3XO diesel is its real-world mileage. My budget is around ₹12-13 lakh on-road with BH registration.

I specifically want the power and torque of a diesel engine, but my usage would actually be quite limited—mostly weekend driving and occasional long trips. My yearly running would average only around 6,000 km.

Given such low usage, would owning a diesel car create any long-term issues or reliability concerns?

We are a family of 4 adults and 1 child. My daily run is approx 30 kms, mainly within the city and then occasionally, once a month, a highway run. Total monthly running is around 1000 kms. My budget is between 50-60 lacs.
I&apos;m currently confused between BMW iX1 LWB, BYD sealion, Toyota Fortuner and newly launched Tesla model Y L (least likely due to concerns of resale value of Tesla 5 years down the line and uncertainty regarding import duties).
I can also consider waiting for the upcoming BMW iX3 and Mercedes GLC EV. Will it be worth the wait of almost another 10-12 months, yes I&apos;m aware of the fact that I&apos;ll have to stretch my budget a little bit for these two.
Kindly advise.

I am planning to purchase a car under Rs 40 lakh. Right now, I own a Creta diesel manual Knight Edition. I’m considering entering the full-size SUV segment, but there are no major options under Rs 40 lakh. I want a proper SUV with 7 seats, plush interiors that feel worth the money, strong brand value and genuine toughness. I considered the Fortuner, but the on-road price in Chennai is around Rs 44 lakh, and I do not want to go beyond Rs 40 lakh. I want something that is tough, something that could go anywhere it wanted to. I also looked at the Hilux, but it feels too long for Chennai roads. Right now, I have shortlisted the Jeep Meridian Longitude Plus manual. It seems to hit the sweet spot, but I am worried about reliability and resale value. What should I do? Are there any other options?
