Dear Autocar Team,
I am a hardcore automotive purist looking to make a very special milestone purchase. I want to buy a car solely for the absolute joy of driving - a mechanical machine that will put a smile on my face decades from now. My goal is to find a definitive enthusiast car that possesses the reliability, emotional character, and timelessness to be a lifelong companion in my garage. I want to buy this car brand new and never sell it; it will stand as a symbol of my hard work and achievements so far.
To give you a picture of my current garage, my daily drivers are a Mahindra BE6 and a Toyota Innova Hycross.
My absolute maximum budget is Rs. 3 Crores. The shortlists currently on my radar are the BMW M2 manual, the Land Rover Defender 90, and the base Porsche 911 Carrera. I am also entirely willing to wait until 2027 if there is an upcoming launch that stands out as an absolute keeper with future-classic potential.
Given these choices, which route would you recommend for a true &quot;forever&quot; car? Looking forward to your expert guidance and recommendation.
Best regards,
Brijesh Devareddy

The WagonR offers better fuel efficiency, even with E20 petrol, along with electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, rear power windows, and a rear wiper. The Exter, on the other hand, has a more modern design, higher ground clearance, a reverse camera, and driver seat height adjustment. The car will be driven mostly in the city. My route is likely to change next year, but the monthly distance should remain similar, with more highway driving than at present.
Budget is max Rs. 21 lakh on-road. Looking for a safe, reliable, long-term car that is comfortable for the driver. I generally prefer sedans. For context, I drove an 8th-gen Civic AT for 2.5 lakh km and am currently driving a Ciaz AT.
I&apos;ve shortlisted a few options, but each seems to have a drawback:
Punch EV 40 - Seats felt too hard, cabin didn&apos;t feel very premium.
Sonet Diesel AT GTX - Safety concerns.
Venue Diesel AT SX(O) - City fuel efficiency doesn&apos;t seem great.
Curvv Diesel AT - Concerned about long-term prospects as it doesn&apos;t seem to be selling well.
Verna 1.5 Turbo DCT - Worried about city fuel efficiency.
City Hybrid - Stretching beyond my budget.
Creta Petrol AT - Safety rating not very reassuring.
Am I missing any good options? Would appreciate suggestions, especially from people with high annual running and long-term ownership experience.</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Maruti-Suzuki/victoris/Victoris_2%20copy.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-video-reviews/2026-skoda-kodiaq-rs-video-review-440472</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-29T12:09:51+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>2026 Skoda Kodiaq RS video review</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/reviews/images/20260629_063913_7cf55bf5.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-reviews/skoda-kodiaq-rs-review-the-rs-of-suvs-440471</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-29T12:00:09+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Skoda Kodiaq RS review - The RS of SUVs</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/reviews/images/20260629_061149_a5535dca.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/industry/bajaj-auto-outlines-fy27-roadmap-440069</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-29T11:50:24+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Bajaj Auto outlines FY27 roadmap</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260629_062004_f2b5cd60.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/bike-news/bajaj-chetak-electric-scooter-sales-cross-8-lakh-milestone-440068</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-29T11:34:36+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Bajaj Chetak electric scooter sales cross 8 lakh milestone</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260629_060123_e3e44764.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/httpswwwautocarindiacomadviceadventure-bike-under-3-lakh-for-long-term-ownership-450350-450350</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-29T11:31:27+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hello,

This is going to be a long one.

I am currently in the market for an ADV motorcycle under Rs. 3 lakh OTR. At the moment, my shortlist consists of the RTX 300, KTM Adventure 250, and Suzuki V-Strom SX 250.

I am 185 cm tall, and most of that height seems to be concentrated in my legs. Consider me a stork with rather impoverished bodywork; some say that I could realistically reach Sri Lanka in a single stride.

Anyway, I have ridden all three motorcycles and, to be honest, the more I ride them, the more perplexed I become.

My priorities are reliability, maintenance costs, longevity, and decent fuel economy, with considerably less emphasis on outright off-road capability. I want a motorcycle that is rugged, dependable, and willing to take me wherever I wish to go without complaint.

At present, my mind keeps returning to the V-Strom SX. It is road-friendly, reliable, comfortable, and appears to offer a largely hassle-free ownership experience. The problem is the price. In Kerala, the current OTR figure stretches to approximately Rs. 2.6 lakh, which I cannot help feeling is somewhat undeserved for what is, fundamentally, an ageing package.

My concern regarding the RTX 300 is that it is an entirely new platform. Its long-term reliability, durability, and ownership experience remain largely unknown. The sensible part of my brain keeps suggesting that I wait for the second iteration, by which point most early issues should have become apparent and, hopefully, resolved.

As for the KTM Adventure 250, I find it difficult to ignore the value proposition of its larger 390 siblings. The 250 is undoubtedly a capable machine, but I remain unconvinced that it represents the sweet spot within KTM&apos;s ADV range.

Fortunately, I am not in a hurry and can afford to wait if necessary.

I do not particularly mind the V-Strom&apos;s lack of modern features, nor the fact that its engine design has been around for what feels like several geological epochs. If anything, those characteristics are part of its appeal. What frustrates me slightly is Suzuki&apos;s apparent lack of commitment towards the platform and its future development.

Given my priorities and use case, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and recommendations.</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/models/colors/20251003_062316_715d6d05.png</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/fz-fi-hybrid-vs-n160-vs-sp160-which-first-bike-should-i-buy-450423</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-29T11:00:19+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hi. My daily city commute is between 10 to 20 km with an additional 50-60 km once a week. I also take occasional long drives of around 500-700 km. I travel with 3 passengers, but occassionally my parents join us.

I have a dedicated parking slot with home charging setup capability. Coming from a Ford, I deeply value sharp handling, tight body control, and steering feedback. I am highly intrigued by the MG Windsor EV Pro through corporate car lease due to its incredible tax benefits, low running costs, and lounge-like rear seats for my parents. However, I am worried about its soft suspension and light steering that will feel too disconnected as compared to my Aspire.

Does the MG Windsor EV Pro offer enough driving engagement, and are its drive modes sporty enough for a driving enthusiast? Please suggest some other option if I buy a car myself or choose a corporate car lease. Also, between turbo petrol or EV, which one will be fun-to-drive?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/volkswagen/Virtus/500_8349.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/auto-features/tata-harrier-petrol-real-world-fuel-economy-tested-explained-440724</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-28T10:00:20+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Tata Harrier petrol real world fuel economy tested, explained</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/features/images/20260626_132554_e5014d52.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/skoda-kylaq-vs-sub-4m-ev-petrol-automatic-cars-for-elderly-driver-450768</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-28T09:30:59+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>My dad is 60 years old. He currently drives a Skoda Slavia 1.0 MT for his daily commute of around 30-40 km (to and fro), mostly on small two-lane roads with moderate traffic. He really loves the car, particularly because of its very light steering at city speeds. He also drives sedately and prioritizes fuel efficiency. The only issue now is that, due to ageing, he feels he may switch to a smaller automatic car. His priorities are fuel efficiency, ease of driving, light steering, and compact dimensions. He is inclined towards the Kylaq, as he has developed a liking for Skoda cars after owning the Slavia. What are the other EV and petrol options available in the sub-4-metre segment with light steering and easy drivability comparable to Skoda cars?
