I am looking for a car with good mileage, as my daily run is around 100 km from Bhiwadi to Gurgaon and back. My usage is roughly 60% highway and 40% city traffic, although highways can get heavily congested during peak hours. I have a family of five, including my parents, and I prefer using my car for long trips rather than public transport. EVs are not an option for me due to infrastructure concerns. Currently, I own a Nissan Magnite XV Red Edition (manual, NA engine), but its mileage has dropped to around 11.5 kpl. I am not sure if this is due to E20 fuel. I plan to sell this car and do not want to keep two vehicles. Please advise whether I should opt for a hybrid or a diesel car. My budget is up to 20 lakh, but I would prefer to stay closer to 15 lakh if possible. I would love your opinion on my use case.

My situation:

I am relocating to our farm, which is about 200 km from Bangalore.
The car will be used occasionally for drives between my village and Bangalore (likely at least once a month), and otherwise as the primary vehicle for local travel, including trips to nearby towns, temples, and the Western Ghats.

Requirements:

Good boot space, as we will often carry a lot of haul (for example, kitchen supplies).
Comfortable for a family of four, including elderly parents. Captain seats in the middle row would be preferred.
The last 2-3 km to the farm is on unpaved/uneven roads, and nearby roads may also be inconsistent. I am unsure whether a body-on-frame vehicle is necessary or overkill for this usage.
Currently using a 2006 Swift, which struggles on such terrain.

Budget:

Initially ₹20 lakh, now stretching to the mid-₹20 lakh range.

Cars I have test-driven:

Mahindra Scorpio N - Did not like the body roll
Mahindra XUV700 - Too plush/soft for my needs
Mahindra XUV300 - Felt underpowered
Mahindra Thar Roxx - Loved it, but not practical for family
EVs are not feasible due to an unreliable power supply

Current bias:

Toyota Innova Crysta - After driving it, it felt like the most suitable, reliable option for my use case

Concerns:

Automatic vs manual (Crysta is manual only)
Diesel longevity given future regulations
Long-term ownership (10-15 years)

Am I making the right choice with the Innova Crysta, or are there better alternatives I should consider?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Toyota/innova-crysta/_DSC1385.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/best-cng-car-with-boot-space-india-which-variant-to-buy-446962</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-30T15:35:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>My daily usage will be around 70-80 km, and I am looking for a CNG car without compromising too much on boot space.

I have shortlisted the Maruti Suzuki Invicto CNG / (assuming you meant a Maruti CNG MPV like Ertiga/XL6), but I am confused about which variant to choose. The LXi and VXi variants seem sufficient, but I do not want to miss out on features like DRLs and LED headlamps, which are available in the ZXi variant.

Is the ZXi variant a good option at around ₹15.2 lakh, considering it still misses features like a 10-inch infotainment system, sunroof, ventilated seats, leather seats, and a 360-degree camera?

I am a first-time buyer and have not yet started learning to drive.

Also, could you advise on the government’s future policy regarding E85/E100 fuel and how it may impact my decision?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Maruti-Suzuki/victoris/Victoris_3%20copy.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/renualt-india-to-restructure-operations-with-seperated-powertrain-unit-439598</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-30T14:47:51+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Renault India to restructure ops with powertrain unit spin-off</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260430_091735_8afea115.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/auto-features/all-naturally-aspirated-petrol-midsize-suvs-ranked-as-per-arai-mileage-440489</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-30T14:31:25+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>All naturally aspirated petrol midsize SUVs ranked as per ARAI mileage</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/features/images/20260430_080449_a6aef86b.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/bike-news/oben-rorr-evo-launched-at-rs-1-lakh-439600</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-30T14:26:44+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Oben Rorr Evo launched at Rs 1 lakh</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260430_085648_2af9e2e2.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/auto-images/ferrari-purosangue-handling-speciale-package-image-gallery-440254</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-30T14:16:50+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Ferrari Purosangue Handling Speciale package image gallery</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/image-galleries/images/20260430_083128_1780875b.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/best-automatic-cars-with-ventilated-seats-under-16-lakh-india-446935</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-30T13:30:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>I have been using a Kia Sonet iMT for the past 5 years, but it has recently started giving gear shift and locking issues. My main priority is the gearbox. Since I mostly drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic, I’ve read that DCTs can heat up over time, while torque converters are smoother and more reliable in city conditions. Even though I prefer petrol for refinement, the lack of a torque converter in petrol is a concern.

I love the Seltos overall and want the top-end variant for its features. I drive around 500–700 km/month in the city, with occasional highway trips, taking my total monthly usage to ~900–1200 km. I understand diesel engines need periodic long drives to avoid issues like filter clogging, and I’m fine to take it on long high speed drives once or twice a month.

I didn’t like the CVT/IVT petrol variant as it lacked the power and driving feel I want.

Given this, is the top-end diesel a good choice for me as a first car?

Also:

1. What are the maintenance costs like?
2. Is choosing diesel mainly for the torque converter a sensible decision? Because I am preferring the torque converter over the DCT, is this the right way to think?
3. I am planning to upgrade from my Hyundai i10 Sportz 1.2 AT and am looking for a new automatic car with a maximum budget of ₹11 lakh (on-road). The car will be used mostly by my parents for city driving.

My current shortlist includes:

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Alpha AMT
Hyundai Exter AMT
Honda Amaze CVT

Key requirements:

Good real-world mileage
Easy to drive in city conditions
Comfortable and convenient for my parents
Preference for top-end variants

My annual usage is relatively low, around 6,000–7,000 km, so I am inclined towards petrol but open to diesel if it makes more sense.

While the usage will be mostly within the city, the car may occasionally be used for long trips (around 500–800 km) once or twice a year.

I am confused between choosing a more comfortable and efficient hatchback, a taller car with better visibility, or a more refined CVT sedan. I am also open to other suggestions slightly outside this shortlist if there are better options within this budget.

I am planning to buy my first car and have shortlisted two options - the Hyundai i20 N Line N8 DCT and the Hyundai Venue HX6 DCT. I test-drove both and instantly fell in love with the way the i20 N Line drives and handles. However, I could feel and hear every bump and pothole quite clearly in the N Line.

On the other hand, the Venue’s suspension felt more compliant and better at absorbing bad roads. Cabin insulation and seating comfort also felt better in the Venue.

I also came across your review. Is the Venue’s steering and suspension a deal-breaker? At triple-digit speeds, does it feel bouncy or unstable while changing lanes?

I understand these cars belong to different segments, but could you please suggest which one I should choose? The AX5L offers features like a 360-degree camera, auto-dimming IRVM, and ADAS, while the REVX A comes with a panoramic sunroof and leatherette seats. The price difference is not significant, so I am trying to decide based on real-world usability.

My parents (in their 50s and relatively new to driving) will occasionally use the car, while I will be the primary driver. I am unsure whether ADAS will be useful for them or feel intrusive. The 360-degree camera could help them, but I am not sure how much difference it will make in day-to-day use.

Personally, I have been driving for a few years and am fairly confident, so I feel I may not use ADAS or the 360-degree camera much. Because of this, I am slightly inclined towards the REVX A, mainly for the panoramic sunroof and overall cabin feel.

Given this usage, which variant would you recommend for better long-term value?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Mahindra/xuv-3xo/500_8410.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/auto-features/hyundai-ioniq-5-new-vs-old-differences-and-similarities-explained-440485</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-29T13:39:05+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hyundai Ioniq 5 new vs old: Differences and similarities explained</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/features/images/20260429_073800_522199e4.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/best-amt-car-under-12-lakh-fronx-exter-baleno-comparison-446759</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-29T13:35:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hi Autocar Team,

My wife and I are planning to buy a new car with an AMT in the ₹10-12 lakh range. We are currently considering the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Exter, and Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

We are not considering the Tata Punch, as my brother already owns one, and we do not want the same car in the family. My wife is very particular about safety ratings, but the Hyundai Exter has not received an official crash test rating yet.

We will mostly be driving in the city, with occasional highway trips. We are not in a hurry and can wait until Diwali if needed.

Could you please suggest the best option within our budget (preferably AMT)? I am a relaxed driver with mostly city usage and occasional long road trips. I am conscious about my budget but willing to stretch if it is the right choice for the next 7 years.

I am confused about which transmission to choose — naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol manual, or turbo petrol DCT. I have heard about DCT issues in slow-speed traffic and uphill driving.

Given this, would going with the naturally aspirated petrol be sufficient, or should I consider the turbo petrol manual instead?

It should be a diesel automatic, preferably a monocoque rather than a ladder-frame SUV.
It should have a 5-star safety rating (BNCAP).
My budget is around ₹25 lakh and can be stretched up to ₹30 lakh.
It can be either a 5-seater or a 5+2 seater.

The car should be highly reliable.</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/legacy/cdni/mmv_images/colors/20251027103006_Hyundai_i20_Abyss_Black_Knight.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/motor-sports-news/johann-emmanuel-wins-qatar-superstock-600-championship-439579</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-28T12:34:21+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Johann Emmanuel wins Qatar Superstock 600 Championship</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260428_065959_f825b20e.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/volkswagen-golf-t-roc-to-get-strong-hybrid-engines-internationally-439577</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-28T12:33:24+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Volkswagen Golf, T-Roc to get strong-hybrid engines internationally</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260428_064147_e194f3f3.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/bike-news/norton-atlas-spotted-testing-in-india-again-439578</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-28T12:31:48+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Norton Atlas spotted testing in India again</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://asset.autocarindia.com/static/news/images/20260428_070120_e8543189.jpg</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/should-i-buy-car-now-or-wait-for-flex-fuel-india-446850</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-28T12:03:58+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Hi Autocar Team,

Good morning. I own a 2014 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire VXI petrol, which has been a good car for my family of four. It has run well so far, with only a slight drop in mileage, and has not given any major issues despite the ongoing transition to E20 fuel.

Now, I am planning to upgrade to a new SUV that is compliant with E20 fuel norms and future regulations. However, with the government moving towards higher ethanol blends like E27 to E85, I am confused about whether I should buy a new car now or wait until 2026 for more future-ready vehicles.

However, my question is: while these cars may be E20 fuel compliant, given that the government is pushing towards higher ethanol blends like E85 and E100, should I wait for the upcoming CAFE III norms and the launch of vehicles that are compatible with these fuels?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Maruti-Suzuki/grand-vitara/500_3505.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/which-5-seater-suv-should-i-buy-for-family-trip-and-daily-city-drive-under-14-lakh-446549</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-04-28T10:30:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>Please suggest the best 5-seater SUV under 14 lakh for a family trip and daily city drive.
