At the time, it was the perfect choice for my usage. However, my circumstances have changed significantly since then-I now have two large dogs (a Labrador and a German Shepherd), and the City is no longer practical for transporting both dogs comfortably, especially on longer highway trips.

I am trying to decide between keeping the City and buying a second EV primarily for dog transport and city use, or replacing the City altogether with a single-car solution.

The vehicles I am considering include the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XEV 9S, Mahindra XEV 9e, BYD eMAX 7, and Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid.

My priorities are:

Comfortable transport for two large dogs
Highway touring ability
Ease of parking and city usability
Long-term ownership (8–10 years)
Good ride comfort
Reasonable running costs

Would you recommend:

1. Keeping the Honda City and adding a practical EV (such as the Clavis EV), or
2. Moving to a single-car garage and choosing something like the XEV 9S, eMAX 7, or Hycross?

Also, is there a midsize SUV (EV, hybrid, petrol or diesel) that offers:

A low boot loading lip,
Rear seats that fold nearly flat,
Enough cargo length and width for two large dogs to comfortably lie down on highway trips,
While still being manageable in city traffic and parking?

Which vehicle would you choose for this specific use case and why?</news:title></news:news><image:image><image:loc>https://cdn-s3.autocarindia.com/Toyota/innova-hycross/500_6252.JPG</image:loc></image:image></url><url><loc>https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/7-seater-ev-for-300km-daily-highway-driving-448947</loc><news:news><news:publication><news:name>Autocar India</news:name><news:language>en</news:language></news:publication><news:publication_date>2026-06-03T20:30:00+05:30</news:publication_date><news:title>My daily travel is around 300 km, mostly on highways. I expect to drive less than 1,000 km per month. Given this usage pattern, would choosing a DCT be a good or bad option in the long run? Alternatively, is Tata&apos;s wet-clutch DCA a better choice? Torque converter options seem quite limited within my budget. I have considered the following options, but each comes with certain concerns:

Skoda Kylaq - I am unsure about its long-term reliability and maintenance.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza - Feels somewhat outdated.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx - Does not seem to offer enough value for the price.
Mahindra XUV 3XO - Concerned about dealer and service support.
Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon - Both seem like good options, but I am concerned about long-term gearbox wear and tear.

So far, I am not unhappy with it. The car does what I want it to do, and while it is not particularly exciting, I am satisfied with it. My question is: if the Elevate eventually gets a hybrid option, should I consider upgrading? I am concerned about fuel economy as fuel prices continue to rise. I currently get around 11-12 kpl overall. Assuming the hybrid is priced around Rs 5 lakh higher, my calculations suggest I would need to drive roughly 1.5-1.7 lakh kilometres to recover the additional cost. Financially, it does not seem to make sense. However, there is also the peace of mind of seeing fuel economy figures above 20 kpl, and the hybrid setup could offer slightly better performance and make the car more enjoyable. What do you think? After driving my new Tata Punch Turbo home from the showroom, I noticed a burnt smell and some white smoke coming from the bonnet. Since it’s a brand-new car, I’m a bit concerned.

The showroom mentioned it could be due to driving in half clutch. Could you please confirm if this is normal or if it needs to be checked?

My usage will include daily office commutes, weekend solo rides, and occasional 500-600 km touring trips with my wife and some luggage. I had brief test rides of both, and these were my impressions: Versys 1100: Extremely comfortable for both my wife and me. However, at 175 cm tall, I could not flat-foot it completely and found it intimidating in city traffic because of its size and weight. Ninja 1100SX: Not quite as comfortable as the Versys, but still comfortable. My wife found the pillion seat comfortable and did not slide into me under braking. I liked the handling very much and found it far easier to manage in city traffic. However, I suffer from occasional lower back pain, so I am concerned whether the slightly leaned-forward riding position might become an issue on longer rides. I want something powerful, smooth, easy to handle in city traffic and also good for a long tour on the highway. I do not plan to do off-road stuff. Also, the lower the weight to handle, the better it would be for me. I would often like to use this bike daily in the city, also being usable in Indian bumper-to-bumper traffic. Also, do note that in the past, I have tried one of my friend&apos;s 2025 Z900 and rode it for a full day and had back pain by the end of the day. So I don&apos;t want that thing to happen to me with the bike that I shall buy.
