The Valley Run postponed

Motorsport activities in India have started to resume once again, after a lengthy break due to COVID-19. However, there are yet a number of strict restrictions in place to control the spread of the virus. An official statement from Elite Octane, organiser of The Valley Run, says the decision to postpone the event comes “in the light of recent warnings issued by authorities and subsequent restrictions.”

“In order to secure the participants, sponsors, vendors, tuners, spectators and numerous others involved, we move to a more secure date from December 2020 to February 2021,” the statement adds.

The online registration link will continue to be live for the revised dates, and collection centres for those who have already registered will open from January 4, 2021. Those interested in participating can head here to register for The Valley Run. The last date to register for the event is January 27, 2021.

Both two-wheelers and cars will be allowed to compete on the quarter-mile (or 402m) dragstrip.

What is The Valley Run?

Over the years, The Valley Run has established itself as one of India’s most anticipated drag racing events. For those unfamiliar with the format, here's a gist: A drag race is a timed event, with the winning car or bike being the one that accelerates faster from a standstill and covers the quarter-mile-long straight in the shortest duration. Such a race doesn’t just make for a thrilling spectacle, but it is also a true test of skill and reaction time.

Last year’s event saw a massive turnout of over 600 participants from all across the country. The fastest car was a modified BMW M5 tuned by Evolve Automotive and piloted by Uzair Ansari from Mumbai. The car clocked a breakneck 10.352sec, beating other tuned BMWs, the Nissan GT-R, and even a handful of Lamborghinis.
