Issue: 163  |  March, 2013

March is the month of the triumphant comeback. Volvo is looking to make one with its stylish new hatchback crossover, India’s first soft-roader, the CR-V, is back and better than ever before, BMW’s X1 returns for another crack at the Audi Q3, and Tata’s Indica Vista gets more power and some keen revisions to see if it can take on the best in the segment. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg; read on to see what else is in store in the exciting March 2013 issue.

Volvo V40 Cross Country

The Swedish luxury carmaker is on the verge of something of a brand renaissance, and that’s just what it needs here in India. The first fruit of this turnaround will be the V40 Cross Country, and we’ve got an early exclusive drive on Indian soil to see what it’s all about.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster

If you thought Lamborghinis couldn’t get more extreme than the already-bonkers Aventador, you don’t know Lamborghini very well. The roof has been chopped off the 690bhp V12 hypercar with astonishing results, and we’ve driven it in Miami this month.

Road Test: Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

Porsche’s icon turns 50 this year, and we’re celebrating with a nuts-and-bolts road test of the very latest in what will undoubtedly be a long list of variants. The Carrera 4S mixes all-wheel-drive security with a 395bhp punch and a dollop of practicality – this could be the best everyday sportscar of all.

New Honda CR-V

The one that started it all is back. The original soft-roader is still obstinately petrol-only, but it’s a huge step up from its predecessor in every way, and since it’s being assembled here, it’s better value too. We take you through the changes Honda has made to the CR-V.

Hot diesel hatchbacks

So far, in India, you’d have to choose between performance and economy in a small car. Not anymore. These 90-horsepower diesel hatches promise the best of both worlds, and all the comforts you can shake a stick at. But they do come at a cost.

New BMW X1 vs Audi Q3

For some time, BMW and the X1 had the compact luxury SUV pegged. But that was until Audi brought in the deeply impressive (albeit expensive) Q3 here to spoil the fun. But now BMW is fighting back with an improved X1. Some blows were exchanged.

Parx Supercar Show

Mumbai’s annual celebration of horsepower and auto exotica is back, and it’s hosting some of the very latest in supercar royalty. Over 80 rambunctious road cars participated this year, driving across the city and building an army of cameraphones in their wake.

India Bike Week

The first India Bike Week kicked off with great pomp and circumstance, with bikers and enthusiasts of every shape and size flocking to sunny Goa for a non-stop, two-day long party. Our detailed report takes you along for the ride.

Motorsport

Fernando Alonso is in the spotlight this month, and we see if he has what it takes to become Ferrari’s tenth world champion in the forthcoming 2013 F1 season. Plus, all the action from WRC Rally Sweden and our very own National Racing Championship.

You’ll find all this and so much more in Autocar India’s March 2013 issue. Plus, two booklets FREE with this issue!
