The Porsche 911 is a legend, because, for over five decades, every successive iteration of the rear-engined sportscar has upped the ante in performance and handling. The eighth generation Porsche 911 has gone on sale in India in Carrera S Coupe and Cabriolet forms. The Porsche 911 is iconic in shape and is identifiable as one from a mile away. As ever, the latest 992 series car is evolutionary in its design though the standard wide body look and light strip at the rear do give it some distinction among 911s. You sit low in a 911 but the view out is exceptional, all the controls are perfectly positioned, and everything is well thought out and feels built to last. Do be prepared to spend a big sum if you want to customise the look of your 911's interior. Front seat comfort is good though the 911’s rear seats are just about usable for kids.
Have a go in the the 911 Carrera S and you'll be shocked by how enormously talented the car is. Its turbo-charged flat six engine revs hard and fast, offers a thick slug of power and even sounds special. Handling too is sublime and there’s a full suite of electronics to ensure the 911 doesn’t feel as tail-heavy as it is. Add in a comfy enough ride and what you get is a fine everyday sportscar.
