The Freelander’s Peugeot-derived DW12 four-cylinder common-rail diesel motor with 158bhp performs very impressively. Idle is smooth, there is very little turbo lag and the Freelander possesses that effortless gait we look for in a good cruiser. It’s also reasonably quick off the mark, getting from 0-100kph in 11.20sec. But at high revs, it does feel a bit gruff
