German auto major Volkswagen has commenced its teaser campaign for the upcoming Tayron. The first teaser reveals a VW SUV shrouded in a white veil, with only a few exterior details visible. However, the body’s silhouette and design of the LED lights all but confirm this to be the Tayron. We are expecting the brand to release several teasers via its official social media handles from now until the launch of the Tayron in India.
- The Tayron shares its platform and powertrain with the Tiguan R-Line
- It is expected to come with a 204hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
- VW will bring the Tayron to India as CKD units and assemble it in Aurangabad
Volkswagen Tayron exterior
The Tayron could undergo a few cosmetic tweaks for India.

The teaser shows the Volkswagen Tayron with its front lights (partly) turned on. There is a full-width LED strip that merges into the headlights, while the VW logo is also illuminated. The Tayron’s rear features a svelte design for the connected tail-lights, comprising a thin LED strip and the main units, plus a backlit VW logo, just like the one seen up front on the grille.

While there could be some India-specific cosmetic tweaks, the Volkswagen Tayron’s overall design and silhouette will be similar to the global-spec model. It remains to be seen if the above-mentioned illuminated brand logo makes it to India or not. The global-spec Tayron gets 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, but the India-spec model is likely to be equipped with 19-inch rims as seen in the Tiguan R-Line. In fact, there is plenty of design commonality between the Tayron and Tiguan R-Line, which will make the former look more intimidating owing to its larger footprint.
Volkswagen Tayron powertrain
The three-row SUV should offer strong performance.
At the heart of the VW Tayron is expected to be a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine straight from the Tiguan R-Line, capable of delivering 204hp and 320Nm of torque. This four-cylinder direct-injection motor will be mated to a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox, and it could also be offered with the brand’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
Volkswagen Tayron expected price and launch
The Tayron will be assembled at VW’s Aurangabad facility.
Among the upcoming VW launches this year, the Tayron is slated for the first half of 2026, with an estimated price tag of Rs 45 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Unlike the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron will come to India via the CKD route and then be assembled locally at Volkswagen’s facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
