The much talked about Maruti Eeco which the company calls a new C-segment car is nothing but a mildly facelifted Versa van. These scoop images come as an anti-climax after the buzz this vehicle had created and the rumours that the new Eeco was actually the APV mini-MPV that is sold in other parts of Asia.

From the exterior there is hardly any change except to the bumpers and headlights. The changes to the Eeco are under. The ageing 1.3litre G13B has been dropped for the K12M motor, the silky smooth 1.2 petrol engine that has made a name for itself in the Ritz. This engine meets BS IV emission norms and promises to be more fuel efficient than before.

On the inside, the Eeco will come with dual tone interiors in shades of beige and grey, a digital meter cluster and will be available in 7-seater and 5-seater options. The price of the Eeco will be revealed at the Auto Expo in January next year but according to the company it is likely to be much cheaper than before. Will a cut-throat price be enough for consumers to bite? The Eeco or Versa in its new avatar could get a fresh lease of life.
