Mercedes has released a new teaser image previewing the 2017 GLA facelift ahead of its world debut at the Detroit motor show.
As seen in the teaser image, the GLA facelift’s nose gains a new grille with black slats, while the headlights have been slimmed down and the bumpers have swapped side grilles for fog lights. These changes bring the car’s design more in line with that of the car it is based on – the regular A-class.
Little else can be seen in the image, but previous spy shots show that the car will run with a raised ride height, lending it a more rugged stance that moves its look closer to that of an SUV. Along with the visual updates, the facelifted GLA will also receive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration in its infotainment system, as well as a redesigned touchscreen.
The facelift is expected to retain the outgoing GLA’s engine range, but with each unit offering improved fuel economy and in some cases more power. Meanwhile, the range-topping AMG GLA 45 is expected to keep its turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine that produces 381hp.
The 2017 GLA facelift will be revealed at the Detroit motor show on January 9, before going on sale internationally later this year. Expect the car to launch in India shortly after its global debut.
