Mercedes is gearing up to expand its AMG range in India with the launch of the GLC 43 AMG Coupe on July 21.

The GLC 43 Coupe, which made its debut at the Paris motor show 2016, is powered by the same 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged petrol V6 as other 43-badged cars in the Mercedes-AMG lineup, producing 357hp at 5,500rpm.

Transmission duties are undertaken by a nine-speed automatic transmission that has been configured for a shorter shift time. The 3.0-litre V6 propels the GLC 43 Coupe from 0 to 100kph in 4.9s and onwards to an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.

On the outside, the GLC 43 Coupe features a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins, sporty air intakes and a chrome front splitter. The tail-end features quad chrome-plated tailpipes and a sharp spoiler lip. The car is shod with 19-inch alloys, with 21-inchers available as an optional extra.

The GLC 43 AMG Coupe gets independent sports suspension with adjustable dampers as standard, as well as adjustable ride height.

The sporty theme on the outside extends to the interiors as the seats get black leather upholstery with red stitching and a multifunction sports steering wheel. Other equipment includes a 7.0-inch infotainment with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, as well as a race timer.

Customers can choose from five drive modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual, all of which tweak the engine, gearbox, speed-sensitive steering and suspension. Additional features include cylinder shut-off technology and start-stop function.

The GLC 43 Coupe is positioned between the GLC Coupe and the full-fat GLC 63 Coupe in Mercedes' global line-up. In India, the car will join other AMG 43-badged cars such as GLE 43 Coupe, SLC 43 and C 43.
