Hyundai Venue to get sporty N Line variant

The recently revealed Hyundai Venue, whose variant options for India have yet to be confirmed, is likely to get a top-spec N Line variant, at least in the North American and Australian markets. Like the recently revealed Hyundai Tucson N Line, this compact SUV is expected to sport a number of sportier cosmetic changes to its exterior and interior, though no major mechanical changes are expected. In terms of a timeline, the launch of the Venue N Line in the US is expected to follow the introduction of the Hyundai Sonata N Line.

There are also talks of a Venue N Performance model, which will be powered by a more powerful engine and get a sportier suspension setup, but nothing has been confirmed, yet.

For now, the Venue for the US market will only be available with a 123hp, 1.6-litre petrol motor that has 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. On the other hand, the India-spec Hyundai Venue has four engine-gearbox combinations – an 83hp 1.2 petrol with a 5-speed manual, a 90hp, 1.4 diesel with a 6-speed manual and a 120hp, 1.0 turbo-petrol with 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox options.

The Venue’s India launch will take place on May 21, and bookings will officially begin on May 2, 2019. Expect Hyundai Venue prices to range from Rs 8 lakh for the base petrol variant to Rs 12 lakh for the top-spec (and quite-well equipped) 1.0 turbo-petrol model with the dual-clutch auto. At this price point, Hyundai is looking to take on the Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport, though the Venue will also compete with the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the compact SUV segment.
