BMW has halted plans of future collaboration with Daimler after disclosure of an alleged conspiracy among German carmakers to cartel authorities.
Citing industry sources, local newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung put out a news report stating that Daimler blew the whistle on a supposed cartel between it, Volkswagen, BMW, Audi and Porsche that involved the plotting of prices and select technologies, including AdBlue diesel treatments.
A news report on Reuters states that, following the latest development, BMW’s top management has halted their plans of future collaboration with Daimler. Plans included building of charging stations for electric cars and joint purchasing of auto parts.
Daimler’s move to blow the whistle about this conspiracy has ruined BMW’s trust in Daimler.
Neither BMW nor Daimler has agreed to comment but the European Union and German antitrust regulators have already confirmed that investigations into alleged collusion between Germany’s automakers are underway.
Recently, before Daimler blew the whistle about the supposed cartel, BMW disputed allegations of cartel and emission manipulations.
