The Tata GenX Nano is scheduled for a launch on May 19. Dealers are currently accepting bookings at Rs 5,000, and special offers have been designed for existing Nano owners. Prominent changes in the new GenX Nano are the added convenience of an AMT gearbox and the increased utility, thanks to the openable boot.
It’ll be made available in four trims — XE, XM, XT and XTA (AMT). The gearbox unit is similar to the one on the Zest compact sedan, but it gets a Creep function and a Sports mode. Thanks to the functional boot, storage capacity in the automatic car is 94 litres, while the manual car can take 110 litres.
This is the first time that the Nano gets an openable bootlid.
Other additions include a bigger fuel tank, a new steering similar to the Zest and Bolt, rear speakers and Bluetooth for the audio system. The GenX Nano has received a few cosmetic updates as well. It comes with new smoked headlamps, a new grille and new alloys. The engine though, remains unchanged, and it continues to be powered by the same 38bhp 624cc, two-cylinder engine.
