Skoda will unveil the Yeti facelift at the 2014 Auto Expo. Interestingly, Skoda’s plan to introduce a facelift comes at a time when you would expect the carmaker to withdraw the unsuccessful model, which sold a meagre 618 units last year; averaging just 51 units per month. However, Skoda plans to introduce more SUVs and expand its presence in the Indian SUV market and hence, doesn’t want to disconnect itself from the SUV segment.

In terms of styling, the front now follows the design language seen in newer Skoda models such as the new Octavia and the recently updated Superb. Most noticeable are the new conventional square-ish headlamps that replace the unique chunky, round fog lamps. The hood is also all-new, as are the front bumper and chin, which are now re-profiled with straighter lines that go well with the new signature Skoda grille and headlamp combo.

The rear sees updates in the form of the trunk-lid getting new triangular kinks, also seen on the Skoda Rapid. The tail-lights are re-profiled as are the reflectors. Additionally, the bumper has been smoothened too. Expected interior updates include a new steering wheel, and minor revisions to the seat fabric and shades. Mechanically, the Yeti is expected to continue with the same engine line-up as earlier.

Despite being a capable SUV, the Yeti failed to strike a chord with Indian consumers primarily due to its pricing. In a bid to improve sales figures of its only SUV, Skoda is expected to competitively price the facelifted Yeti.
