Renault has announced a recall of the 799cc Kwid models manufactured up to May 18, 2016. The recall has been initiated to inspect a fault with the fuel hose that could cause disruption in fuel supply. Datsun has followed suit with a recall of the Kwid’s sister car, the Redigo, to inspect it for the same defect.

Renault and Datsun say that they will intimate owners of affected models and carry out the inspection and necessary fixes for free at their service centres. As part of the recall, both automakers will inspect the fuel hose of the affected cars and install a clip as a proactive measure.

Renault has further stated that it will evaluate the functioning of the fuel system to prevent any chances of disruption in fuel supply.

The Kwid has been a successful model for Renault with the car’s sales averaging to over 7,000 units a month with bookings crossing the 165,000 unit mark since its launch last year. The automaker recently launched a 1.0-litre iteration of its hatchback to further strengthen its position in the segment. Datsun on the other hand launched the Redigo in June this year with the car’s sales having accumulated to over 14,000 units till end-September.
