A heavily camouflaged production-ready version of the i-M4 compact crossover has been spotted testing in the Alps. The i-M4 concept, revealed alongside the i-K2 (now badged the Baleno) at the 2015 Geneva motor show, is a tribute to Suzuki’s 1976 Cervo mini-sportscar designed by legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro.

The i-M4, with its thick C-pillar, flared wheel arches, and short overhangs will measure under 3.7 metres, and is expected to retain most of the styling elements from the concept showcased.

Suzuki's newly announced 110bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet petrol could be on the list of the engines to power the i-M4 compact crossover, that is expected to be offered in both front- and all-wheel drive guises.

Suzuki is yet to decide a name for the road-ready small crossover, and will place the car alongside the new Celerio at the lower end of Suzuki’s line-up. Globally, the i-M4 will compete against the Fiat Panda 4x4.
