Nissan recently updated its Micra hatchback and gave it a much fresher and more modern appearance. Now, it looks like its saloon compatriot, the Sunny, is also set to get a mid-life update.

These are allegedly the first pictures of the updated Sunny, spotted testing in China. The most noticeable change is the significantly larger headlamps that flow into the shoulder line and are much sharper looking. The grille is more pronounced and gets the addition of chrome, and the front bumper has been redesigned with the addition of a chrome strip near the fog lamps. At the back, it’s not very different, there’s a much thicker strip of chrome though. Our sources tell us that, just like the updated Micra, the refreshed Sunny could also get LED inserts in the tail-lamps. Continued..

Some of you may not know this, but the facelifted Micra launched in India is different visually to other versions sold in other ASEAN markets. The Micra in India looks much sportier as the Indian version got the most significant update, while the other versions maintain a more conservative appearance.

So, Nissan could possibly follow the same route with the Sunny as well, and we could get the most significantly facelifted version. However, there is no information about updates to the mechanicals  or interiors of the car and the facelifted Sunny will most likely continue with current set of engines and transmissions.
