New details have emerged about the next-generation Audi A4. According to reports, the new A4 will have the same dimensions as the current model. It will get optional full LED headlamps together with LED daytime-running lights, while the rear will get wider tail-lights. The A4 will also get a spoiler to improve the car’s aerodynamics, reports have suggested.

The 2015 A4 in some markest will be powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol motor and will be offered with cylinder deactivation tech that can shut down two cylinders during low and medium load; a process that the carmaker claims should help reduce fuel consumption by about by half a litre per 100km. The A4 will also come in a plug-in hybrid version powered by a combination of a 211bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 95bhp electric motor. The new A4 plug-in hybrid will reportedly be able to run on electric power alone for about 50km. Audi is supposedly also considering a diesel engine for the A4.

The Audi A4, codenamed B9, will get a built-in digital screen in the rearview mirror. It gets the same center console as the recently launched A8/S8 facelifts. It also gets a touchpad with a larger screen display for the MMI infotainment system. Reports also suggest a programmable display, as in the new TT, for the A4, albeit without the same levels of customisation.

The next-gen Audi A4 is expected to arrive in showrooms sometime next year.
