Toyota is set to launch its all-new Camry luxury saloon on August 24, 2012. The car will be assembled at the company’s Bangalore facility, which should help Toyota price it competitively.

The new Camry will come with a more refined 2.5-litre 178bhp VVT-i petrol engine mated to new six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

Despite retaining almost the same dimensions as the previous-generation car, the new Camry looks bigger and more substantial in the flesh. Toyota has said that more than 90 percent of the parts have been reworked, but there is no escaping the fact that the car is still based on the same basic platform.

The exterior design gets a thorough re-working, while the interiors are luxuriously appointed with fully electrically-adjustable front seats and exemplary thigh and back support for the rear seats.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s deputy managing director, Sandeep Singh, has said that all components of the car will be imported and assembled at its Bangalore plant.

We expect the price to be around Rs 23 lakh (est), ex-showroom, Delhi.
