Skoda will debut its third-generation Fabia at the Paris motor show in October, the company has confirmed. The next-gen Skoda Fabia will have the same underpinnings as the current car, but will not run on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform used in the Octavia.

The third-gen Fabia will be powered by same engines as the facelifted Polo, but will get new exterior and interiors.

At launch, the Skoda Fabia will be available in hatchback and wagon body styles, but the carmaker is reportedly analysing prospects of bringing the sedan back.

Company sources also reaffirmed plans to drop the high-end RS version and instead focus on the Monte Carlo editions. The Monte Carlo editions come with the same engines as the standard versions, but they have a sportier look both inside and out.

The new Skoda Fabia is likely to go on sale towards the end of the year or early 2015.
