First test mules of the new E-class Cabriolet have been spotted wearing heavy camouflage. The test mules seem to follow in the footsteps of the new E-class Coupe with much of the styling retained while the hard-top roof will make way for a folding soft-top.

The interior too is expected to carry forward from its hard-top siblings with the use of higher quality materials and dual 12.3-inch screens acting as the instrument cluster and infotainment display. Additionally, the car is expected to share most of its features with the standard sedan.

In terms of engines, the car is expected to borrow from the line-up of petrol and diesel engines available on the new E-class unveiled earlier this year. Also expected is a more performance oriented AMG E43, powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with a possible E63 AMG debuting at a later stage.

The E-class Cabriolet is expected to make its international debut sometime in 2017. In India, Mercedes is currently offering the E-class in its Cabriolet guise wearing the E400 badge and powered by a 333hp, 3.0-litre V6 petrol motor. The new E-class Cabriolet could follow the new E-class to India following its international reveal.
