India's biggest carmaker Maruti is likely to initiate what could be the single largest auto recall for a single model here. According to reports, the recall would pertain to a faulty fuel filler neck, on Maruti Swift Dzire models manufactured in 2013 and 2014.
Sources said of the affected units many are still in showrooms and dealers have been notified about the replacement due. Maruti has not officially made any announcement yet but according to company insiders, if the recall does take place, the company will issue an official statement. In the past, Maruti has been quite open about recalls and one can expect the company to make an official communication to its customers.
If confirmed, this will be the second recall by the carmaker in recent times with November last year seeing 1,492 units of the Dzire, Swift, Ertiga and A-Star recalled to address an issue with the steering column.
