2026 Yamaha R7 Updates

Electronics

The R7 now features a new 5-inch TFT screen with an advanced 6-axis IMU system developed from the YZF-R1. Rider aids include traction control, slide control, wheelie control, brake control, engine braking management and launch control. Riders can customise settings via Yamaha Ride Control (YRC), which allows selection of power characteristics and electronic intervention, depending on riding conditions. There are three riding modes, including Sport, Street and Rain. Additionally, there are two customisable modes and four track modes.

Design

The 2026 Yamaha R7 gets minor design changes, with a slightly sharper, sleeker front, and the LED indicators are now integrated into the mirrors.

Engine

The 2026 Yamaha R7 uses the same 698cc twin-cylinder engine, producing 73.4hp at 8,750 rpm and a peak torque of 68Nm at 6,500 rpm. For 2026, the bike gets an advanced third-generation quickshifter system.

Chassis

The steel tubular frame has been revised for enhanced strength and higher torsional, longitudinal and lateral rigidity while still retaining the same weight as the older model. The design of the asymmetrical swingarm has also been updated, which Yamaha says is to optimise rigidity.

Wheels and Tyres

The bike now has lighter wheels to significantly reduce the unsprung mass. These 10-spoke wheels are made through Yamaha’s spin-forging process and are wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tyres.

Ergonomics

Yamaha says that the riding position has also been revised with the aim of enhancing rider movement and comfort.

Colours

There are two new colour options apart from black and blue, including Breaker Cyan/Raven (light blue, yellow and black) and a limited-run 70th Anniversary Edition (red and white).
