The LA motor show kicks off on November 14, 2016. We round up the key cars to look forward to:

Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Alfa Romeo’s mid-sized SUV has been spotted testing numerous times and even accidentally shown in a promotional video, but we’re yet to see it in production form. The LA motor show presents the perfect opportunity for the new model’s international launch. It could eventually come with the 510hp engine of the Giulia Quadrifoglio sports sedan as well.

Cadillac Escala

Cadillac’s striking Escala concept made its world debut at the Pebble Beach show in August, but LA will mark its first entry into a mainstream arena. The four-door concept is built on the rear-wheel-drive platform of the CT6, but ditches the car’s saloon boot for a liftback design. It’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.2-litre V8.

Jaguar electric SUV

Jaguar’s first EV model could make its debut in LA in a near production-ready state. There’s no official word that it is headed to the LA motor show, but talk of a late 2016 debut suggests this would be the perfect venue. The model, which has been spotted in development form, looks on course to make production in internationally markets in 2018.

Jeep Compass

The India-bound Jeep Compass was revealed in Brazil last month but will be first presented to the public at the LA motor show. Jeep’s smaller and affordable take on the larger and more expensive Grand Cherokee, the Compass will come in both, two- and four-wheel-drive forms. In India, the Compass SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Fortuner, and the Ford Endeavour.

Mini Countryman

Based on the same UKL1 architecture as the latest Clubman, the new Countryman is set to be considerably larger and more spacious than the current car, and it will be available with a hybrid powertrain. It didn’t land in Paris, so the LA motor show is the next most likely date on the calendar for an official reveal.

Volkswagen e-Golf

A facelifted e-Golf, which was hinted at by VW boss Herbert Diess at the Paris motor show, looks on course to land in LA, offering a zero-emissions driving range of up to 300km. By comparison, the current e-Golf can travel up to 190km.

Audi A5 Cabriolet

While Audi has revealed the new drop-top A5 in pictures, the car will be physically shown at the LA motor show. The Cabriolet shares much with its coupe sibling, including styling and powertrains. Available from launch will be a performance-oriented 354hp S5 model, though a range-topping RS5 is expected to be in the works too.

Cadillac CT6 PHEV

Cadillac will bring a plug-in hybrid iteration of its flagship BMW 7-series rivaling sedan – the CT6 – to the LA auto show 2016.

Mercedes-AMG E63

Mercedes-AMG’s most powerful series production four-door sedan is set to be present at this year's LA motor show. The new E63 now gets full-time all-wheel-drive as standard, along with the inclusion of a drift mode that lets it retain the tail-happy dynamics of its predecessor. Powering the car in its range-topping form is a 611hp version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from the Mercedes-AMG GT.

Volkswagen Atlas

VW’s US-specific SUV is set to be showcased at the LA motor show. When launched, the large seven-seat SUV will be VW’s largest offering on sale internationally with the car being longer than the current Touareg. Powering the SUV will be a choice of petrol engines.

Ford EcoSport facelift

Ford will debut its much-awaited EcoSport facelift at the event. The compact SUV is expected to get styling similar to the larger Ford Kuga sold internationally, along with updates to the cabin. While it will be the first time the EcoSport will be shown in the US, the same car is expected to arrive in India in the latter half of 2017.
