Set to make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show, the 2016 F-Pace will mark Jaguar’s entry into the SUV segment. To develop an SUV good enough to challenge established brands, Jaguar seems to have left no stone unturned in making the F-Pace more dynamic.

Several elements of the new SUV’s underpinnings use technology from the F-Type sportscar. The technology used will help improve the SUV's ride and handling abilities. These include torque vectoring system, electric power assisted steering, a torque-on-demand AWD system and the chassis dynamics technology.

Previewed first as the C-X17 concept, the F-Pace has managed to stick as close as possible to the initial renderings. The name F-Pace, has been derived to highlight Jaguar's ‘Grace Pace Space’ slogan from the 50’s and 60’s.

The F-Pace is expected to get the 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, with a possibility of the supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8 making its way into the SUV. The other engines are expected to be the new four-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel units seen in the Jaguar XE saloon and Land Rover Discovery Sport.

JLR’s global operations director, Andy Goss said, “The emergence of the F-Pace is a direct result of the company’s plan to spend more than £3.5 billion a year on product development over the next few years”.

The Jaguar F-Pace will be pitted directly against the Porsche Macan and the upcoming BMW X4. The new car is expected to become one of Jaguar’s two best-selling models, performing strongly in major markets such as China and the US and competing with the volume of upcoming XE compact saloon.
