Honda has released a teaser sketch of what could be the precursor of a track-based single-seater car that will rival the likes of the Ariel Atom and the Caterham Seven. The teaser image shown is a top-down view of the concept car displaying exposed wheels, and suggests that the engine bay could be to one side of the car.

The new Honda concept car is most certainly a single-seater with the driver exposed to the elements, and the company has said that Project 2 & 4 would have a ‘’cabin-less design”. With this concept, Honda has worked to blend its motorcycle engine technology with four wheels and a high-tech construction. Powering the car is likely to be one of Honda’s high-output V4 motorcycle engines which currently feature in motorcycles like the RC213V-S, the road-going version of the Honda MotoGP bike.

The Project 2 & 4 concept was the winner of a design competition held between Honda design studios worldwide. It has been designed jointly by Honda’s motorcycle design studio in Asaka, Japan and its car design studio in Wako, Japan.

The Honda Project 2 & 4 concept will make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
