Like its sister cars, the new concept is likely to show off the flexibility of Volvo's new Scalable Product Architecture platform.

Volvo has revealed preview images of its new concept car, which will be revealed in full at the Geneva motor show next month.

From these images, the concept appears to be a two-door estate. It's the third concept in a series of studies by design boss Thomas Ingenlath. The previous two concepts in the series were the Concept Coupé, and the Concept XC Coupé, which were last seen at the Tokyo and Detroit motor shows respectively.

This new concept will get large rectangular exhausts at the rear, alongside wraparound tail lights and a heavily-sloping tailgate with a rear spoiler. Large alloy wheels like the ones used on Concept Coupe can also be seen. Pictures of the car were initially leaked online earlier today.

Volvo's new corporate front end, featuring a slim 'floating' radiator grille and new T-shaped headlights should also make their way onto concept.

Like its sister cars, the new concept is likely to show off the flexibility of Volvo's new Scalable Product Architecture platform, as well as providing a close look at the firm's evolving design language and future production models.

The new XC90, strongly hinted at by the XC Coupe, will be the first to use the SPA platform. The architecture will eventually be used by all Volvo models larger than the V40.
