Morgan will unveil the most powerful Plus 4 it's ever built at the upcoming Geneva motor show. The car is expected to retain a four-cylinder engine, as its name dictates, but bosses are remaining tight-lipped on specification until the show. A Morgan spokesman said it will be “by far the most powerful Plus 4 ever”.
The current model is powered by a 1998cc Ford Duratec engine developing 145bhp and 19.36kgm, mated to a five-speed Mazda manual gearbox. The 877kg two-seater can accelerate from 0-100kph in 7.5 seconds and achieve a 190kph top speed.
Morgan introduced the Plus 4 in 1950 as a more powerful alternative to the 4/4. The original ceased production in 1969, before being resurrected in 1985 for 15 years. The current car launched in 2005.
