Ferrari has launched an auction in an effort to raise much needed funding for the victims of the tragic earthquake that struck Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy last month. The earthquake claimed 25 lives along with the desecration of many buildings. The funds raised by the auction will be used to aid the numerous victims affected.

The auction, which began on June 4 and will end June 20, will have a slew of Ferrari items up for sale, most notably a Ferrari 599XX Evo which has a market value of $1.6 million. The winning bidder will have the car handed over by current Ferrari Formula 1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. In addition, the V8 engine used by the Ferrari team in the F60 to celebrate its participation in 60 consecutive years in the Formula 1 world championship will also be up for grabs along with several other signed memorabilia including driver helmets, driving suits, watches, gloves and more.

All proceeds – big or small – will go towards the redevelopment of all that was lost during the earthquake. It’s a good cause, so start bidding.
