Audi’s baby SUV, the Q3 has begun its Indian innings with a gusto. In the first five days since its launch, Audi has received 500 bookings for the Q3, which is only available with a diesel engine option. The SUV’s bookings come to a close now because Audi has allotted only 500 units for India in its first phase due to the European plant’s production constraints. The response to the Q3 is remarkable since it is being sold as a CBU till its CKD operations begin at Audi’s Aurangabad plant.

The Q3’s direct competitor, the BMW X1 managed to sell only 140 units in May, averaging approximately 200 units per month this year, despite being sold as a CKD.

There are two variants of the Q3 on offer; the base version is priced at Rs 26.21 lakh, it comes with 16-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels, halogen headlamps, manual A/C controls, rear parking sensors and cruise control. The top-end variant is priced at Rs 31.49 lakh, and is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, LED tail lamps and xenon headlamps, automatic climate control and a panoramic glass-sunroof. (All prices ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
