Audi’s worldwide sales surged to 412,850 during the first quarter of 2014, helped by a 21.1 percent increase in sales in China, according to new figures released by the German car maker.
The result marks a new quarterly sales record for Audi, which has now enjoyed 51 consecutive months of sales growth. Audi’s worldwide sales through to the end of March were up by 11.7 percent over the same period in 2013.
Among the markets recording the biggest increases in volume were China, which saw an increase of 21.1 percent, Germany, which was up by 12.4 percent, and the UK, up 11.3 percent.
Audi’s UK sales during the first quarter of 2014 increased by 4429 units in the same period in 2013, to 43,671. The firm's single biggest market remains China with 124,520 units sold in the same period.
In India, Audi had also managed to sell over 10,000 units across the last calendar year. The carmaker even clocked its best sales figure in March 2014 by selling 1,404 units as well as across the first quarter of this year - a total of 2,740 units.
