    Yamaha Motor India to suspend manufacturing operations

    Yamaha Motor India has said that it has decided to suspend manufacturing operations after a comprehensive review and in view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the country.

    • Suspension will last from May 15 to May 31, 2021

    • Factories are located in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh

    • Yamaha says it wants to help break the chain of COVID-19 transmission

    India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has decided to suspend manufacturing operations at its plants in Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) and Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh) from May 15 to May 31, 2021.

    The company has said that it’s taking this step to support the government in its fight against COVID-19 and break the chain of transmission. Yamaha added that it “will continue to work closely with its dealers and suppliers to minimise the impact of this interruption and focus on optimisation of stock.” The employees working in other departments will work from home to preserve business continuity.

    Yamaha isn’t the only manufacturer to have taken this step. Honda has also halted operations till May 15, while Hero recently extended its suspension till May 16.
