Honda sells over 20 million two-wheelers in India

Honda two-wheelers have announced that it has crossed the 20 million customer mark in India. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer took less than 14 years to reach this milestone.

Although most of their models are doing fairly well, the lion’s share of sales volumes is through the Activa and the CB Shine, both leaders of their respective segments. “We are delighted on achieving this 20 million customer’s milestone by serving customer needs and aspirations across the large geographical and demographic spread of India. We will continue to raise our operational benchmarks.” said Y S Guleria, VP - sales and marketing.

Honda currently has around 55 percent market share in the hugely popular automatic scooter segment. To improve supply, Honda is setting up its fourth plant – the world’s biggest scooter manufacturing facility in India – at Vithalapur, Gujarat. Spread across 80 acres, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million units, taking total annual production capacity to 5.8 million units.
