Ducati is set to launch the XDiavel in India on September 15, 2016, with the company recently posting a series of launch teasers on Twitter. The new-gen Diavel is essentially the company’s take on a power cruiser, lying somewhere between a cruiser and traditional high performance motorcycle.
The XDiavel is to feature a belt-drive and powered by a Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) 1,262cc engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine will produce 158hp at 9,500rpm and a peak torque of 128.9Nm at 5,000 rpm. It is expected to get three riding modes – Sport, Touring and Urban. Additionally, it will get the Ducati Safety Pack (including cornering ABS and EBD), traction control, ride by wire, cruise control, and Ducati’s Power Launch system.
Internationally, the motorcycle is also offered in the XDiavel S variant, which receives a fully LED lighting cluster, an infotainment system, Bluetooth, and machined finish on the alloys and engine covers. Both variants are mechanically identical. However, it remains to be seen if Ducati will offer the XDiavel S variant in India as well. The Ducati XDiavel is expected to be priced here in the Rs 15-20 lakh bracket.
