Contrary to recent reports, Triumph is not presently working to develop small capacity bikes for launch in India. The UK based company is gearing up for big bike assembly here, and is in the process of setting up a sales and service network for major Indian cities.

Triumph first announced its entry into the Indian two-wheeler market in 2011, and revealed competitive, well thought-out pricing for its existing bike line-up at the Auto Expo held in January. Triumph will first land in India with seven new models, starting with the famous classic bike first born in 1959, the 865cc Bonneville to be offered at an affordable Rs 5,50,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), going up to the world’s largest capacity production bike, the 2300cc Rocket III Roadster that will come in at approximately Rs 22 lakh.

Following this, Triumph will be monitoring the Indian market and could at a later date consider developing smaller capacity motorcycles should there be a strong demand for such models.
