A month ago, Bajaj Auto launched the KTM 390 Duke at an aggressive price tag of Rs 1.8 lakh.

The lure of the introductory price tag sent enthusiasts running to Bajaj's Probiking showrooms to put their money down for the very potent, yet sensibly priced KTM. However, the mood was dampened somewhat as a section of factory workers at Bajaj’s Chakan plant went on strike that day, putting a question mark over production and deliveries of the new KTM.

As a result, dealerships are playing it safe while accepting bookings and quoting a waiting period of three months. However, company officials believe that bikes will be delivered well within the timeframe. While some production of the Pulsar was shifted to Bajaj’s Waluj plant, the KTM production has continued at Chakan albeit at a slower pace than normal. When the Chakan strike is resolved, the delivery schedules will be slashed further. For now, as per their original plan, Bajaj will deliver the first lot of KTM 390 Duke motorcycles to customers by the end of this month.
