Harley-Davidson likely to price Street 750 below Rs 5 lakh

The 2014 India Bike Week saw the unveiling of the new Harley-Davidson  Street 750. Our itching hands didn't get to ride it, but we did get a few exclusive pictures of what is probably the most awaited Harley Davidson in India.

We also got to sit on it and first impressions are that of a comfortable seat and riding position. Harley conducted a survey in 11 countries and interviewed over 3,000 young consumers when they were designing this bike. The feedback received from the survey asked for a more manageable, manoeuvrable motorcycle with a comfortable suspension and better ground clearance. To that extent, the handlebars are wider and there's at least two inches more suspension travel and, as you can see in the pictures, two inches more ground clearance than any Harley currently sold in India.

What we also did notice was that the display bike at India Bike Week was shorn with MRF Zapper tyres -- a first for Harley and an indication of how aggressively the company is planning to price the bike. Anoop Prakash, MD, Harley-Davidson India, did say that the Street 750 will be priced at below Rs 5 lakh, on road, in India. He also said that they are looking at introducing the Street 500 in India in 2015. Good times coming up for Indian motorcycle enthusiasts.
