BMW has revealed a prototype electric scooter called the C-evolution (C for commuter), at the London Olympic games. This commuter is being used as a shuttle vehicle by journalists, VIPs and BMW employees associated with the summer Olympics. BMW began working on the C-evolution in 2010, and the Munich-based manufacturer is the official automotive partner for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Planned for a 2014 launch, the C-evolution will be charged by regular household charging sockets. The futuristic scooter is powered by an 8kW, lithium-ion battery derived from BMW’s upcoming i3 car. The e-scooter delivers a power output range of 14-46bhp with an electronically limited top speed of 120kph.

BMW’s innovative approach to global mobility could stand to benefit Indian riders if the possible tie-up between the German giant and TVS Motor Company sees daylight.
