Renault Kwid 1.0, 1.0 AMT unveiled at Auto Expo 2016

The Kwid 1.0 comes with a new 1.0 SCe motor; also gets the Easy-R AMT gearbox

Renault has unveiled the Kwid 1.0 at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016.  The carmaker has also showcased the Kwid 1.0 with an AMT gearbox, dubbed the Kwid 1.0 Easy-R.

The 1.0-litre Kwid will be sold alongside the 800cc variant, however the AMT is likely to come only with the 1.0-liter variant. The Kwid 1.0's power and torque figures are not out yet.

The Kwid AMT comes with a unique shift control dial for changing gears. The transmission for the AMT is likely to be a five speed unit, like the manual version.

The new AMT gearbox has been developed in-house by Renault to keep costs in check. The 1.0-litre Kwid will directly compete with the Maruti Alto K10 which is also available with an AMT.
The Renault Kwid is built on the company’s highly flexible CMF-A platform which will be shared with other Renault, Nissan and Datsun products. Renault says the record level of localisation, at 97 percent, was essential to meet the Kwid’s target price of Rs. 3-4 lakh
