Honda Car India has issued a recall for the Brio hatchback and Amaze sedan.

The carmaker will inspect the proportioning valve of 15,623 units of its Honda Brio hatchback and 15,603 units of the Amaze sedan.  According to Honda, these cars were manufactured between February 28, 2013 to January 13, 2014.

Honda has also clarified that this inspection would be carried out only on the non-ABS-equipped versions of these two models. This means, the Amaze diesel is not included in this inspection since all diesel-powered Amaze sedans come with ABS as standard.

The proportioning valve is part of the car’s brake system - it adjusts brake-distribution pressure to the wheels.

According to Honda, there could be a possibility of some of these cars having a misassembly of the proportioning valve. However, the carmaker has stated that there has been no complaint regarding this issue. Honda will go ahead and replace the proportioning valve voluntarily after inspection, if required.

Honda has also created a special micro-site for this recall where customers can log in and find out whether their vehicle is part of this inspection or not. Honda will also contact owners of the affected vehicles in a phased manner to carry out the inspection.
