Branded content: What makes the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC 4-door Coupe so special?

Imagine this. You’re committed to a fast right hander and the speedometer is rapidly throwing rising triple-digit numbers at you. The long straight at your favourite racetrack is barely a moment away, and there’s a crackling loud exhaust note, typical of a bi-turbo V8, chasing you determinedly. You look over your shoulder, only to find your teenage kids safely strapped in, while your partner seated beside you is texting her best friends, making dinner plans for later in the day. Sounds a bit surreal, no? Of course it does! Cars that can seat four don’t go around sniffing apexes and hunting down straights made for Formula 1 cars. Unless, that is, if the car in question is the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ 4-door Coupe.

Launched in India at the Auto Expo 2020, the AMG GT 63 S 4-door Coupe wowed audiences with its hunkered-down stance, razor-sharp lines and, of course, the pleasant fact that it could seat four in a level of comfort you can only expect from a car wearing the three-pointed star emblem. There is more to this car than just its sensuous styling, however. Built autonomously in Affalterbach, it’s the first-ever ground-up 4-door to be produced with the hallowed AMG badge, and if its menacing lines don’t give it away, one look under its long bonnet will definitely leave you convinced - and stunned.

Fun fact: This is the fastest 4-door luxury car ever to have lapped the reverential Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Oh, and one more fun fact; this is the fastest AMG. Ever. Zero to 100kph? 3.2 seconds. Let that sink in. The AMG brand’s core value is ‘Driving Performance’ and the GT 63 S 4-door Coupe interprets this to inch-perfection. Powered by a 4-litre bi-turbo V8, this raging hot 4-door coupe produces a colossal 639hp - that’s enough to make some business jets seem slow. If that’s not enough, how about the 900Nm of torque it delivers at between 2,500 to 4,500rpm? That’s (still) not all. Apart from these staggering output figures, the engine also benefits from two twin-scroll turbochargers, which extract the absolute best out of each of the car’s eight cylinders - useful on your favourite set of twisties. Oh, and while we're on the subject of twisties, now is a good time to bring out the AMG Ride Control+ which offers you just the right suspension balance between stupendous agility and a comfortable ride.

And when you're done with driving really fast you can just sit back and admire the way it looks. This is undoubtedly the sportiest looking 4-door ever to be made. The AMG-specific radiator grille makes a bold statement, with the stamp of authority coming from the long and low bonnet with its two power domes. The frameless side windows surely announce a stylish arrival and, of course, aggressive stance riding on those gorgeous alloy wheels make it a powerful, compelling design that you will struggle to take your eyes off. It is in every way an impactful representation of what Mercedes-AMG stands for - Driving Performance.

That's not all either. Like any true blue modern-day Mercedes-AMG, the GT 63 S 4-door Coupe has not been deprived of its enviable share of technology. Its super luxurious interior is finished with top-notch materials, and features, among other luxuries, a widescreen digital cockpit for that futuristic experience. Not only does it get two 12.3-inch screens for the instruments and media display beneath a continuous glass screen but also offers customization of these screens in three different AMG display styles - Classic, Sport and SuperSport. For when that explosive V8 isn’t music enough to your ears, you can play your favourite tracks on the high-performance 640 watt Burmester surround sound speakers - 14 of them, to be precise, which even give you a surround sound experience in the roof liner!

You also get the Mercedes me connect package which offers cutting-edge connectivity features, simplifying life in the fast lane. Another innovative move from Mercedes, staying ahead of the times as usual, is the MercFromHome digital retail programme, which allows you to book online, extensively configure and even have your car delivered to your doorstep, all from behind the convenient comfort of a screen. Using me connect, you can even facilitate a video or voice call with a sales consultant or have a one-on-one with your service advisor! So whether you’re in the comfort of your couch or in the GT 63 S’ sporty seats, you’re always in for a good time.

The AMG GT 63 S 4-door Coupe has a lot more entertainment in store than you’ll guess, mind you. In addition to the typically high order of engineering, it also gets an AMG Dynamic Plus package, which makes it just the right amount of sharp in the bends; in fact, the steering wheel itself is an AMG Performance unit finished in Dinamica microfibre, and you even get AMG steering wheel buttons that make you feel you're in a Formula 1 car. The absolute party piece, however, is the Race drive mode, which sharpens the car’s responses to an incredulous degree and, for when you want to put those frameless side windows to good use, there is even a Drift mode. Yes. In a four-door!

What's most incredible about this car is that it makes the most surreal of your driving fantasies - such as the one described at the beginning of this story - seem like a perfectly attainable scenario. Whether you choose to be a driving hero or prefer to give your friends and family the adrenalin rush of a lifetime, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-door Coupe delivers the ultimate in everything.
